    A transgender prisoner has been found hanging by the neck in her cell at the all-male HMP Woodhill prison, the BBC has learned.

    She was found by a prison officer at the Milton Keynes prison in the early hours of Friday.

    Hertfordshire Police is searching for a roundhead costume after it was stolen from a civil war re-enactor in St Albans.

    The man was loading his car outside the Scout Hut on Riverside Road on the evening of 2 November when someone stole a box. 

    Thieves got away with a 17th Century steel helmet, replica sword, dagger as well as replica period clothing.

    Despite numerous appeals, including a Crimewatch feature and the offer of a £20,000 reward, police have been unable to find those responsible for the murder of a Hertfordshire businessman 25 years ago.

    The body of Patrick Hurling, 45, was found in his home in Bengeo Street in Hertford on 1 December 1990. He'd been beaten and a fire had been started in the house. 

    His daughter, Lorna Ringer, from Bishop's Stortford, said: "We've lived this nightmare now for 25 years, it's caused so much heartache." At one point there were three arrests but no-one was ever charged.

    James McCann (pictured right), 79, of Suffield Court, Swaffham, Norfolk, is charged with 18 sexual assaults and 48 assaults in connection with St Francis Boys' Home, Shefford, between 1963 and 1974.

    John Cahill (left), 73, of Chandos Court, Bedford, has been charged with six sexual offences against four boys. They will appear again at Luton Crown Court on 22 December.

    This is the scene on the M25 clockwise where rubbish has been strewn across the carriageway after a lorry overturned between J21a and J22.

    Three lanes remain closed with traffic queuing for 10 miles. The entry slip road from the M1 southbound is closed clockwise.

    In Beaconsfield, Amersham Road in both directions is partially blocked due to the fire service dealing with a blaze involving commercial waste.

    The incident is between Magpie Lane and Longbottom Lane and fire engines are partially blocking the carriageway. Traffic is queuing.

    The daughter of a Hertfordshire man who was murdered 25 years ago today, has said they've been living a "nightmare".

    Lorna Ringer's father Patrick Hurling was killed in his home in Bengeo Street in Hertford in 1990. She says her and her sister Nicola Daley are desperate for answers, and hope someone will come forward with new information.

    "It would mean we could go ahead and grieve for our dad properly without a cloud hanging over us," Lorna said.
