    When Tony Milioti had his wallet stolen in Bedford last week, he took it upon himself to track down those responsible - on his birthday.

    By tracking where his contactless card was being used, or in some places declined, after talking to his bank, he managed to find the two men responsible, but said "it really ruined my birthday".

    "I just wanted to send a message out that you can be a victim of contactless," Mr Milioti said.

  3. Woburn Abbey Christmas lights event: 'Very bad situation', says Duke of Bedfordpublished at 09:23

    The Duke of Bedford has said more than 3,000 people will be due a refund after a Christmas display at Woburn Abbey on Saturday received numerous complaints.

    A man will appear at Wycombe Magistrates' Court this morning following a shooting in Aylesbury on Sunday which left a man with leg injuries.

    The 21-year-old has been charged with grievous bodily harm and carrying a firearm with criminal intent after the incident in a house in Banks Yard.

    A senior Hertfordshire Conservative MP says he has doubts about launching British air strikes against the so-called Islamic State militants in Syria.

    David Cameron is to ask his cabinet to endorse a one-day Commons debate and vote tomorrow over the strikes.

    Peter Lilley, MP for Hitchin and Harpenden, said: "I'm not convinced yet that they've learnt the lessons of Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, which proved it's easy to destroy a regime but almost impossible to install a new one or defeat insurgency by air power alone."

    The family of a Hertfordshire businessman who was murdered 25 years ago are launching a fresh appeal for help to find his killers.

    Patrick Hurling's body was found in his home in Bengeo Street, Hertford, on 1 December 1990. He'd been beaten and a fire had been started in the house.
