    Details of MPs expenses released today show Conservative MP for mid-Bedfordshire claimed £1,800 a month, thought to be for rent on her London flat.

    That's despite Nadine Dorries saying, in June 2013, she would no longer claim personal expenses and would use her salary to fund her second home in Westminster.

    "I have removed myself from the expenses system," she wrote on her blog. But details released today show she claimed the money between August and November 2015. According to her latest register of financial interests, she is also receiving £11,000 a month from her publisher.

    A cannabis factory in St Albans has been raided by police after neighbours raised suspicion.

    Officers forced entry into the property in Antoine Gate at 10:00 where they found three bedrooms full of about 100 plants.

    Police believe the drugs would have been worth £50,000. They will remain at the scene until evening.

    Police in Luton have closed down a brothel at a house in Grampian Way.

    The property now has a closure notice in place. It was part of an operation started in March to tackle anti-social behaviour. 

    Thirty-four sex workers were spoken to and moved on in the first week. More than 30 letters have been sent to people believed to be kerb crawlers.

    A court has heard how a man deliberately started a fire outside the police station in Bedford because he wanted to be arrested.

    Nicholas Quinn, 32, of no fixed address, didn't think he would be able to quit his drug addiction outside of prison.

    Mr Quinn set fire to a rubbish bin outside Greyfriars Police Station, told officers what he'd done and waited to be arrested. He came off drugs while in jail awaiting today's hearing. The judge sentenced him to six months, the equivalent of time served.

    The RSPCA is investigating after a dumping ground for dead puppies was found along a country lane in Hertfordshire.

    Officers were alerted to the puppies along Hogg End Lane in St Albans on 27 February, where nine bodies were found - all thought to be terriers and collie-types between six and eight-weeks-old.

    The charity believe the site may be used on a regular basis by some sort of puppy farm as the remains of three other dogs and bones were also found.

    The world's biggest aircraft is almost complete and ready to begin test flights over Bedfordshire after a fin and engine were attached to the hull.

    The Airlander 10, external is a cross between an airship, a plane and a helicopter. It is as long as a football pitch and as tall as six double decker buses, and is housed in one of the Cardington Sheds from where it will make its maiden voyage. 

    A crane helped guide the 11 by nine metre fin into place and the engine was hoisted into position before being fixed with five carbon composite battens.

    A blind teenager from Watford says he wouldn't have bionic eyes, even if they were an option to him, because he doesn't need vision to lead a fulfilling life.

    Hitchin Town Hall will open in May, it was decided at a public meeting held last night.

    The building has been closed for years for redevelopment and the construction of a new museum. Protesters say the delays have cost more than £1m.

    Jackie McDonald, who's behind "The Future of Hitchin Town Hall & Museum" Facebook group, says she is pleased with the news adding that discussions are under way to keep costs down.

    A Luton mum says she was left "baffled" by worries of nursery staff about her four-year-old son's drawings, which they wanted to refer to counter terrorism services.

    The nursery said the case wasn't referred to Channel, external, a de-radicalisation programme, but was referred to a panel made up of police and social services. It decided there was no need for further action.

    Since last July, teachers and public service workers have a legal obligation to report any concerns of extremist behaviour to the authorities. Just under 2,000 under 15s were referred between January 2012 and December 2015. Hear the full report at 17:00 here.

    A man has been summoned to court over a fatal collision in Milton Keynes last year in which a five-year-old boy was killed.

    Riley Ferguson died in hospital four days after the collision in Woodspring Court, Monkston last June.  

    A 41-year-old from the town has been ordered to attend Milton Keynes Magistrates’ Court next month in connection with causing death by careless driving.
