    Tonight will be rather cloudy with outbreaks of patchy rain spreading across eastern parts of the region. Staying drier across the west, with lows around 9-11C (48-52F).

    Tomorrow there may be a few light showers at first, but otherwise it will be a largely dry day with sunny spells - especially during the early afternoon. Highs of around 16-17C (61-63F).

    It's been a great season for 15-year-old Joe Turney.

    The Milton Keynes teenager has not only won the British and European title, but he's also heading to Italy this weekend to take part in the karting World Championships.

    A detective who swore at an elderly motorist in Milton Keynes has been sacked by Thames Valley Police, external.

    A four-day misconduct hearing heard Kerri Driver hurled abuse at the man in Beanhill last November, while off-duty from her job based at Aylesbury Police station.

    It also found in a seperate occasion that month she assaulted a female officer in Buckingham. 

    She was found to have breached the Standard of Professional Behaviour on two occasions in respect of Authority, Respect and Courtesy, and Discreditable Conduct.

    Bob Jewell lives opposite this red telephone box in Milton Keynes village.

    He told me: "Visitors think it's wonderful. It's photographed more than anything else in the village. Foreigners love it."

    He said wedding photos are also taken by it. 

    Mr Jewell is thinking of giving it a lick of paint himself as it's looking a bit tired and he hopes it can be saved.

    He says it's played a large part in his nearly 60-year relationship with his wife. 

    "Linda was living in the village. We both didn't have a phone and our only means of communication was the two telephone boxes – the other being in Sherrington.

    "I would arrange to ring her at a certain time. She used the phone box in Milton Keynes village every other day."

    After finding out that payphone boxes could soon be a thing of the past in Milton Keynes, I've been on the search to find the one red phone box that's set to be decommissioned by BT. 

    It couldn't be in a more idyllic spot in Milton Keynes village, next to a pub and bus stop.

    The good news is this booth doesn't have to be scrapped, but it could be adopted by the community for £1, external and turned into.. well, whatever local people want it to be.

    My idea is to open up my own coffee shop here.

    A consultation has started on removing 65 phone boxes from across Milton Keynes. 

    BT says the payphones could be removed as usage has fallen by more than 90% in the last 10 years. 

    It says it will only affect one red phone box in Milton Keynes village.

  12. 'Suspicious device' found in back garden 'lead piping'published at 15:48 British Summer Time 14 October 2016

    A police cordon has now been lifted in Gilston in Hertfordshire. 

    Police were called this morning after builders thought they had discovered a "suspicious device" in the garden. 

    It's just been confirmed it's nothing dangerous and it's thought to be lead piping. 

    All roads in the area have now re-opened. 

    There's no "clue" yet if Colonel Mustard was involved...

    A bronze bust of William the Conqueror has been unveiled at Berkhamsted Castle in Hertfordshire.

    It's where William accepted the English crown, following the defeat of King Harold in 1066.

    The sculpture was designed by Peter Walker, artist in residence at Lichfield Cathedral (pictured below).

    It's part of celebrations to mark the 950th anniversary of the Battle of Hastings.  

  14. Watford: Decision time for Mazzarri on playing Successpublished at 15:22 British Summer Time 14 October 2016

    Watford striker Isaac Success could start his first Premier League game at Middlesbrough on Sunday. 

    The Hornets record signing scored his first goal for the club in the 2-2 draw with Bournemouth prior to the international break. 

    He did pick up an injury in that game and Watford boss Walter Mazzarri now has to decide whether to pick him from the start at the weekend. 

    "The only thing I need to check now is if he's got 90 minutes in him and if he has recovered completely from injury in the last game," said Mazzarri.

    The golfer, known as "Beef", shot a -6 round of 65 today to put him to -10. 

    Sweden's Alex Noren is on the same score with Scotland’s Scott Jamieson and England’s Tommy Fleetwood a shot further back.

  16. Nadiya Hussain: The Great British Bake Off winner signs BBC dealpublished at 14:34 British Summer Time 14 October 2016

    Last year's Great British Bake Off winner Nadiya Hussain has signed a deal to front programmes on the BBC.

    Hussain, from Milton Keynes, said she would continue to make films for The One Show and develop "other exciting programme ideas".

    She said making the BBC her "home" would give her "the scope to work across such a unique range of diverse and interesting projects".

    There had been speculation that she could be involved in The Great British Bake Off when it moves to Channel 4.

    There is one thing I have in common with 91-year-old John Bush, we've both got a hole-in-one! 

    The bad news is I only have one, and John has three. 

    The golfer, whose regular four-ball has a combined age of 358, struck on the par-three 21st of the 27-hole Stoke Park Country Club in Buckinghamshire.

    He now gets to have his name engraved on the Hole In One Decanter, again!

    If you look closely enough you can see his name etched on here two times before, which he got when he was in his 80s.

    The oldest golfer to score a hole-in-one is thought to be 103-year-old Gus Andreone, who achieved the feat in Florida in 2014.

  19. Bomb squad called to Hertfordshire villagepublished at 13:37 British Summer Time 14 October 2016

    Hertfordshire Police has confirmed it was called at 10:35 after a suspicious device was found in the grounds of a property in Pye Corner, Gilston, as reported in our newspaper round-up.

    The force said a device was found underground by builders who were carrying out work. 

    A 200m cordon is in place and an Explosive Ordnance Disposal team has been notified. 

    Redricks Lane is currently closed. We'll bring you more when we can.
