Bus subsidies in Luton have been removed. There will be no subsidy in future after £314,500 was cut.
Since 2010, 83% of Bedford Borough's subsidies for buses has been slashed - a saving of £3,661,200.
Milton Keynes has lost 50% of its subsidies in the past six years, making a saving £1,290,820.
Central Bedfordshire's subsidies have also been cut by a third since 2010. The Unitary Authority has reduced its financial support by £602,060.
Research by BBC Sunday Politics East shows £13m has been cut from bus services across the East, where spending has dropped by 10% to £3.64 per passenger.
The Bus Bill, currently going through parliament, aims to give local councils more of a say in bus services – allowing collaboration with private companies and franchising opportunities.
But some of the new powers would only be granted to councils with elected mayors.
Lianna Etkind, of the Campaign for Better Transport, was against that proviso. "We think that whether or not you have an elected mayor, you should be able to depend on a regular, frequent and affordable bus service," she said.
Research by the Campaign for Better Transport, external says subsidies to routes nationwide have been reduced by £78m since 2010, with another £27m under threat this year.
