    Bletchley Park looks set to become the site of the a new cybersecurity school.

    The home of secret code-deciphering projects during World War Two could become the centre for a new generation of codemakers and codebreakers.

    There are plans for a training college to teach cybersecurity skills to 16-19 year olds at the Buckinghamshire site.

    It's hoped the UK's first National College of Cyber Security will open in 2018.

    A potentially fatal fungal disease has been found in Milton Keynes trees for the first time. 

    The Parks Trust has confirmed tests have come back positive for ash dieback , external after it was spotted on young sapling ash in Linford Wood, in the west of the city on the Shenley/Whaddon Road and also on the Swan’s Way bridle route at Kingsmead. 

    They are now worried it could be in other parks in area and are monitoring the situation.

    What is ash dieback?

    • Ash dieback is caused by the fungus Hymenoscyphus fraxineus (previously Chalara fraxinea)
    • Symptoms include leaf loss and crown dieback
    • It was first recorded in Europe in 1992
    • It first appeared in the UK at a Buckinghamshire nursery in February 2012

  11. Lorry driver attacked in Hertfordshire villagepublished at 16:42 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November 2016

    A Hungarian lorry driver was dragged out of his cab and beaten up while parked in the Hertfordshire village of Cuffley. 

    Police have just released details of the attack, external, which happened in Burleigh Way on 8 November, as they try to trace three witnesses.

    The attacker punched the 39-year-old man through his open cab window and pulled him onto the street where he kicked him repeatedly, police said.

    Officers are trying to trace a woman who tried to intervene, a man standing nearby and a driver who was stopped from leaving the area because of the attack.

    He made the announcement on hearing that millions of pounds of investment to the Oxford – Milton Keynes – Cambridge corridor via road and rail "is the key to unlocking billions more economic value for the country – just when it’s needed most."

    He hopes the investment will "help drive the future success of the UK economy."

    I've come to Milton Keynes to get local reaction to the news that £27m is to be spent on developing an Oxford to Cambridge expressway. 

    That means by the 2020s single carriageways should be dualled and improvements made to areas like the Black Cat roundabout on the A1.

    Peter Barber runs WH Barley Transport and Storage. He says getting from east to west currently is a "nightmare" because of all the single carriageways. Roads between Milton Keynes and Buckingham, and Eaton Socon to Cambridge are the worst. 

    He says you "could always put more into it, but you have got to start somewhere, and this is a very good start."

    The news that £137m is to be invested in the Oxford to Cambridge corridor has been hailed "great news" by PwC in Milton Keynes.

    Ruby Parmar says: "Milton Keynes sits at the heart of the Oxford and Cambridge corridor, so it's great news about the government's commitment to deliver on infrastructure for the Oxford to Cambridge link. The National Productivity Fund announced should also help to unblock land for housing along this route.

    "These announcements have the potential to positively impact Milton Keynes economy and future growth plans - we await the further detail with interest."

    After six year's of service, a police dog that broke its neck in two places while chasing suspected muggers in Watford is to retire, external

    PD Nero, jumped over railings in Watford which, unknown to his handler, had a 12ft (3.5m) drop on the other side.

    Nero made a good recovery at first, but a CT scan on his neck found his injuries were more severe.

    He can now hold his tail up high and enjoy his golden years in retirement with handler PC Clive Warncken who's taken him on as a pet.

    An investigation, after two people were taken to hospital when fireworks went into the crowd in St Albans, has found too much propellant in some of the fireworks was to blame. 

    The event at the Fireworks Spectacular on 5 November in the city was operated by Fantastic Fireworks. 

    The company said they used a number of "aqua cake products", which are designed to be fired across and on to water, but they travelled further than expected and reached the "front row of the audience".

    The company said after testing they found "a higher amount of propellant than the design specification stipulates" so have now removed them from their displays.

    A sister will stand trial in February accused of the murder of her sibling at their Luton home. 

    Sabah Khan, 34, of Overstone Road, pleaded not guilty at Luton Crown Court this morning to murdering mother-of-four Saima Khan. 

    Saima, 34, a care worker, was found dead at her Luton home on the evening of 23 May. 

    Ms Khan has been remanded into custody and is due to stand trial on 6 February.

  19. Autumn Statement: Better transport links between Cambridge and Oxford confirmedpublished at 13:59 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November 2016

    It was anticipated, but now the confirmation has come through. 

    Millions of pounds has been announced to improve transport links between Cambridge, Bedford, Milton Keynes and Aylesbury.  

    The much talked-about East West Rail link will get a boost, with £100m to develop the Oxford to Bedford section, and a further £10m to explore options for the Bedford to Cambridge route. 

    The Oxford to Cambridge Expressway, which will go through Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire, is to get £27m pounds to help delivery of the road project by the 2020s.
