Police in Milton Keynes are hunting armed robbers who attacked a bookmaker's shop last night.
Two men attempted to rob Ladbrokes in Benbow Court in Shenley Church End just before 20:50.
Police say one of the men stood at the door while the other ran up to the counter and demanded money.
The man at the door pointed what appeared to be a firearm at the member of staff, but the cashier ran out of the back of the store and the men left empty-handed.
The robbers were dressed in blue paper suits and bright yellow gloves. Both had their hoods up and scarves across their faces. Officers say the suits may have been discarded locally, and patrols have been increased in the area.
The trial continues today of a woman from Hitchin, accused of killing her half-sister after being charged with burglary at the flat they once shared in Letchworth.
It's claimed Yvonne Caylor killed Nikki Collingbourne with a chicken-shaped casserole dish the day she was due in court to answer the charge.
Luton Crown Court heard the 53-year-old disguised herself as a man with a beard, a wig, glasses and a hi-vis jacket to go to her half-sister's flat in Ivel Court in May last year.
A day later 26-year-old Ms Collingbourne was found lying dead in a pool of blood in the flat.
The 53-year-old from Grove Road, Hitchin, denies murder.

Researchers from the University of Hertfordshire, external say supermarkets should introduce special slow checkout lanes for elderly people who want to chat to staff.
Academics said older people "valued the opportunity for social interaction that comes with a trip to the supermarket or local shops" and this tradition was now at risk by the popularity of online shopping.
Their report also suggests supermarkets offer discounts for elderly people if they shop at less busy times of the day.
The recommendations come amid growing pressure for stores to adapt to the needs of older customers.

The budget for treating eating disorders in Hertfordshire is going up by £600,000.
Until this year funding for Children and Adolescent Mental Health Services was being cut year on year, while the number of youngsters with mental health problems rises.
Now the NHS in Hertfordshire has recognised the difference early treatment can make and has announced a £600,000 funding boost to the specialist eating disorders team.
Nicky from Buntingford praised the team's hard work while speaking to Andy Collins on BBC Three Counties Radio earlier. Nicky, whose 16-year-old daughter Libby recently recovered from anorexia, said: "I don't think Libby would have been here now without the treatment that she received."

Steven Gerrard will not be the next manager of Milton Keynes Dons.
There had been hopes Gerrard would come to the club once he leaves LA Galaxy in December but talks have ended between the Dons and the former Liverpool and England captain.
Speaking on Sky Sports last night, Gerrard's close friend and former team-mate Jamie Carragher said: "I just don't think he fancies it. It would be a big move down to Milton Keynes with his family."
But Carragher didn't rule out the prospect of Gerrard taking up a managerial role in the future, saying: "I think if it was six months, 12 months down the line there may have been a good chance it was going to happen."
Richie Barker will again be in caretaker charge for tonight's League One game at home to bottom-of-the-table Chesterfield.

The organiser of the Christmas light switch-on in High Wycombe, where Father Christmas is alleged to have told an autistic five-year-old boy he was on his naughty list for bad behaviour, has sent us a response.
A statement from High Wycombe Bid Company said Santa used "simple, non-judgemental, language" and asked the "traditional question" about behaviour of "both the child and the accompanying adult".
Mother Kaliegh Taylor claimed Santa asked her son his name and then told him, "Dylan, I know you are a very naughty boy and I'm afraid you are on the naughty list", causing him to burst into tears.
The statement continued: "Father Christmas has an enhanced DBS check and is briefed to treat every child equally, unless the parent advises him otherwise.
"The answer, and accompanying response from the adult, will dictate the conversation. Everything is deliberately kept light-hearted with a number of photo opportunities."
The company said it hadn't received any direct complaints about what happened, but would be more than happy to talk directly to any individuals with concerns.
