  1. Graham Taylor funeral: 'A day of celebration', reverend sayspublished at 09:24 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February 2017

    Justin Dealey
    BBC Three Counties Radio

I'm in Watford this morning where I've been talking to Rev John Samways, who will be leading Graham Taylor's funeral service later today.

He told me it would be a day to celebrate Taylor's life.

    "What a life," he said.

"A life that was poured out into the world of football, poured out into the community, poured out into every encounter he ever had with anybody - it truly will be a day of celebration."

  4. Deeney dedicates Watford's victory to Taylorpublished at 08:34 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February 2017

Meanwhile, Watford captain Troy Deeney dedicated last night's 2-1 win away at Arsenal to Graham Taylor.

Younes Kaboul scored the opener within 10 minutes for Watford.

However, just two minutes and 57 seconds later the visitors doubled their lead, as Troy Deeney tapped in the rebound after Etienne Capoue's fine run ended with his shot being saved by Petr Cech.

In the second half Alex Iwobi pulled a goal back by steering Alexis Sanchez's cross home.

Deeney said: "The first half performance would have been something him and his family would have been very proud of.

"There's not much I or the team can say, so obviously to give a performance like that and a result like that the day before his funeral is probably the best we can give.

"Obviously myself and a few club representatives will be [at the funeral] and we wish his family all the best moving forward."

A large turnout is expected in Watford town centre today as people pay their respects to Graham Taylor.

As a result, Watford Council arranged for a number of roads in the vicinity of St Mary's Church to be closed temporarily, so the event can take place safely.

George Street, Church Street and New Street closed at about 07:00 and will remain shut until about 16:00 - depending how quickly the crowd disperses.

It will be implemented by a staffed barrier in George Street close to the King Street junction, and access to premises on these roads will be allowed until about 12:30.

In addition, High Street - from King Street to Market Street - will be closed from 13:00 to 15:00 and buses will be diverted.

Public footpaths crossing the churchyard will be closed, but the footpath link from the High Street (next to Brighthouse) to Church Street, opposite the Alms Houses, will remain open.

The service will take place at St Mary's Church in Watford at 13:00 and will be relayed to the public outside on big screens.

Taylor is a Hornets legend after leading the club from the fourth division to the first in five years, from 1977 to 1982. He also got them into the Premiership during his second spell at the club in the late 1990s.

In 2014, Watford renamed the Rous Stand the Graham Taylor Stand to honour his achievements.

The local council said a significant number of people are expected to gather in the vicinity of the church to pay their respects and a number of roads will be closed temporarily. Full details coming up next.
