    Ian Stewart has been found guilty of murdering his partner, the author Helen Bailey, following a trial at St Albans Crown Court. 

    Stewart buried her body in a cesspit at the couple's home in Royston in Hertfordshire. 

    In the weeks before killing her, Ian Stewart had been slowly drugging Ms Bailey with his sleeping pills. He also killed her dog and buried him in the cesspit. 

    It can now be reported that detectives are re-examining the death of Stewart's previous partner, his wife Diane.

    She died suddenly in 2010. Her death was said to have been due to an epileptic fit. 

    She had suffered from epilepsy when she was younger. Police say at this stage there is no indication of anything suspicious.

    A 16-year-old boy from Bletchley has been arrested after a man was stabbed in the town last week, external

    Police say a man in his 50s was with his teenage son on Middlesex Drive at about 15:10 on 16 February when an "altercation" took place, and he was stabbed in his back. 

    The offender ran away and the victim drove himself to hospital, where he was treated for injuries to his lungs. He remains in hospital in a stable condition. 

    The teenager has been released on police bail until 31 March.

    A fight involving up to 60 teenagers broke out in Luton on Monday. 

    Police were called at about 17:00 to Waulud's Bank by Five Springs and managed to disperse the crowd. 

    It's believed to have involved a number of schoolchildren in the town. One person was arrested.

    A warning has been issued to anglers to dispose of their fishing tackle properly after a duck ended up with a hook in its beak. 

    The Aylesbury duck was spotted last week in the Buckinghamshire town and was taken by the RSPCA to a wildlife hospital.

    The charity says the bird was in a "bad way" as the hook was stuck in her beak and tangled around her wing.

    She's now made a full recovery and has been released back into the wild.

    I know you'll have seen slightly more exciting ones, but not many that will have cost so much.

    Greater Anglia is spending £4.7m tarting up its commuter trains in Essex and Hertfordshire. 

    They include new carpets and seat covers, a deep clean throughout and interior repainting. 

    Some first class seating is also being removed to increase standard class seats.

    The family of a Milton Keynes woman who died 11 days after being attacked and robbed at her Bolbeck Park home have paid tribute to her. 

    They say Hang Yin Leung (pictured pink jumper), 64, was a "women of indomitable spirit, serving in the Royal Hong Kong Police for 18 years with distinction".

    She moved to the UK in 1991 with her family and worked in various Chinese restaurants in the MK area before setting up her own business in 2006.

    A statement said she survived breast cancer and "would move through life with an energy and determination rarely seen in others", and regularly helped her neighbours. 

    "Hang was a dedicated mother who worked tirelessly for her family. Her untimely departure will leave a gap in not only her family but to all that knew her which will take time to heal. 

    "She will be fondly remembered and missed by all those that knew her," it added.

    The daughter of Stephen Rhodes, Bec, has been on air to pay tribute to her father. 

    She says it's been "lovely to hear everyone's memories and thoughts of dad".

    She said he "absolutely loved what he did" and when he worked at BBC Three Counties with current presenter Jonathan Vernon-Smith, it was like having a "play date" every day.

    She said: "For want of a better phrase, dad was a loud mouth but he never made a fuss, he was so humble even in the last couple of weeks.

    "He kept on saying 'so sorry for making a fuss', and kept on saying to the nurses 'thank you so much for coming'."

    Stephen Rhodes was a man of many talents. 

    Not only did he present the consumer show and breakfast show on BBC Three Counties Radio, he regularly stood in for Richard and Judy when they went on holiday from This Morning. 

    His Irish voice was also extremely distinctive and he was the voice of Family Fortunes for 14 years. 

    He was also known locally on television as he presented The Politics Show on BBC East for four years.

    Tributes have been pouring in for the former BBC Three Counties Radio presenter Stephen Rhodes, who's died from motor neurone disease. 

    Former colleague Jane Prendergast said: "Working with him at BBC 3CR was a joy. He was a great broadcaster."

    Police investigating the death of a pedestrian who was knocked over by a fire engine are appealing for two possible witnesses to come forward.

    Mitchell Bailey, 58, died when the vehicle overturned on a roundabout while on a 999 call in Royston on 18 January.

    Hertfordshire Police said the engine was travelling along Old North Road and was making a right hand turn into Burns Road when "for reasons unknown" it lost control.

    The force said it is looking to trace two people who are believed to have been in the area at the time.

    The first is a man who identified himself at the scene as a retired paramedic and used the phone of a female witness to speak with ambulance control.

    The second is a man aged about 50 to 60 years old, with a distinctive full beard and glasses. He also wore dark trousers, a dark hat and gloves and a two-tone coat that had dark sleeves and a dark top, with a lighter body.

    PC Jackie Lister said: "Extensive enquiries into the incident are continuing and as part of that we are appealing for these two people to come forward as soon as possible, as they may have information which could assist with our investigation."

    Jurors are due to continue their deliberations today in the trial of Helen Bailey's fiancé, who is accused of murdering the children's author.

    Ian Stewart, 56, is alleged to have plied the writer with sedatives and smothered her in April last year, before dumping her body in a cesspit.

    The former software engineer was said to have carried out the plot in a long-planned bid to inherit her £3.3m fortune, St Albans Crown Court heard.

    Three months after her disappearance, the 51-year-old was found in a pit below the couple's garage in Royston. 

    Mr Stewart, of Baldock Road, Royston, denies charges of murder, preventing a lawful burial, fraud and three counts of perverting the course of justice.

    In his last interview with BBC Three Counties Radio in August 2015, Stephen Rhodes said he was trying to raise awareness of motor neurone disease.

    "Anybody can get this," he said.

    "There's no explanation as to how it comes around, I had my back operation and it seems to have kicked in then, and this could happen to anybody and I don't want it to."

    He joined BBC Three Counties Radio in 1995 and presented the consumer and breakfast programmes before leaving in 2010 to stand as an independent candidate in the General Election.

    His previous television work included ITV's This Morning and he was the voice of Family Fortunes for many years.
