    Storm Aileen will continue to bring fairly strong gusts of wind today and the Met Office has issued a Yellow Weather Warning, external for some areas of the region.

    Despite the wind, there will be some sunny or bright spells during the day, although some fairly heavy showers are also due to blow in.

    The wind will gradually ease through the day.

    Turning wet and windy later this evening with gusts of 65-70mph possible in parts of the BBC East region.

    With these sorts of wind speeds, and with trees still in full leaf, branches could come down.

    Rain clearing by the early hours leaving clear skies, but remaining very windy.

    The temperature will dip to 10C (50F)

    Wednesday will have a mixture of more sunny spells and blustery showers with the possibility of hail and thunder and highs of 17C (63F).

    Members of Luton's Caribbean community have been protesting at a borough council plan to sell off a community centre.

    The building in Trinity Road in the town has been used by the Caribbean community for 18 years.

    Speaking at the protest, Pamela Hagley, who has been involved with the centre since it opened, said: "That centre was the only centre in Luton for Afro-Caribbean people.

    "It was the only place that they could go and now the centre has been closed despite several meetings with the council. It's time for us to stand up and have our voices heard.

    Luton Borough Council, external says that the community services have been transferred from Trinity Road to St Monica's - just under a mile away - but protesters say the new venue is not suitable.

    Police are looking for help to piece together what happened to a man who was found dead in the Peak District.

    Gary Sims, who was from High Wycombe but had travelled to the area while working in Manchester, was reported missing by his family on 23 August.

    The 60-year-old's car was found in a layby near the Snake Pass road a day later, and his body was discovered on 25 August.

    Derbyshire Police is looking to speak to anyone who was speak anyone who was in the Woodlands Valley area near to the Ashop River between 09:00 BST on 21 August 15:30 BST on 25 August.

    There's a busy night ahead for local clubs in the Football League this evening.

    In League One, MK Dons travel to Peterborough United looking for back-to-back wins after Saturday's 1-0 victory at Plymouth Arygle.

    Meanwhile, in League Two, Luton Town are seeking a first win in three games when they welcome bottom of the table Port Vale, while fifth placed Stevenage host Harry Kewell's Crawley Town.

    In the other League Two match of local interest, Wycombe Wanderers go to pre-season favourites Mansfield Town.

  17. M1 reopens after lorry crossed carriagewaypublished at 08:14 British Summer Time 12 September 2017

    The M1 has reopened in both directions after a lorry crossed the carriageway and collided with other vehicles yesterday.

    Police said the multi-vehicle collision occurred between junctions 14 and 15, near Northampton, shortly before 15:00 on Monday.

    The road partially reopened at about 18:00.

    East Midlands Ambulance Service said two people had been taken to hospital - one by the air ambulance - but no further update on injuries has been provided yet.

    The other patient was taken to Northampton General Hospital by land ambulance.

    In the meantime, enjoy the sunshine while it lasts.

    It'll be quite breezy, but the wind not as strong as yesterday.

    As the cloud arrives, we see the risk of a shower this afternoon, but not as heavy or as frequent as yesterday's.

    Things are set to turn very wet and windy overnight - the Met Office has issued a weather warning, external for strong winds across much of the region.
