I was at the National League South match at Hemel Hempstead FC on Tuesday night where former Arsenal Sanchez Watt was sent off after the referee mistook his name for dissent and I can honestly say I've never seen anything quite like it!

The referee called Sanchez Watt over to take his name - there are no names on shirts or squad numbers at this level - and give him a yellow card – however he clearly thought the player was refusing to give his name by saying ‘What? What’’.

He sent him off for dissent before Watt’s teammate Jordan Parkes came over and spoke to the referee for about 30 seconds.

After that the referee spoke to the players and both benches and allowed Sanchez Watt to stay on the pitch.

It was utterly bizarre and confusing for the crowd who saw a red card for a player who then stayed on the pitch.
