    Staff and patients at Oxford University Hospitals are waving flags and wearing paper crowns to watch the Coronation procession.

    Inpatients on the wards have been given bedside TV sets to watch the proceedings and pictures of the new King have been put up in each of the hospital's chapels and prayer rooms.

    In a statement, the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, external said: "Thank you to all our staff who are spending the bank holiday weekend providing excellent, compassionate care to our patients, and working tirelessly behind the scenes to keep our services running smoothly."

    King Charles III and Queen Camilla have left Buckingham Palace and are now making their way to Westminster Abbey.

    They are travelling in the Diamond Jubilee State Coach and gilded crown on the top was carved using oak from HMS Victory, now located at Portsmouth's Historic Dockyard.

    The coach’s interior is also inlaid with wood from Henry VIII's warship, the Mary Rose.

    In a statement, the dockyard said the coach also features materials taken from over 100 historic sites, including pieces from Sir Isaac Newton's apple tree and the Antarctic bases of Captain Scott and Sir Ernest Shackleton in its bodywork.

    The royal couple are travelling at a stately pace in the Diamond Jubilee State Coach, which was commissioned for Queen Elizabeth II in 2012.

    It’s a storied vehicle: the gilded crown on the top was carved from oak from HMS Victory.

    As for the modern touches - the coach boasts hydraulic shock absorbers and air conditioning. We can’t speak for the handling on London roads, however.

    It’s being drawn by six Windsor Grey horses: Icon, Shadow, Milford Haven, Echo, Knightsbridge and Tyrone.

    Thames Valley Police said it will be adopting a "lower tolerance level" for disruption in Windsor over the coronation weekend.

    Events today and on Sunday will culminate in a concert at Windsor Castle, attended by 20,000 people.

    Assistant Chief Constable Christian Bunt said the force had not been made aware of any planned protests.

    But he said, if required, officers would use new protest laws that came into force this week.

    The Public Order Act , externalcame into effect on Wednesday and bans protesters from committing acts of "serious disruption".

    ACC Bunt added: "Thames Valley Police respect the rights of those who want to protest peacefully and legally.

    "I would encourage any individuals or groups who are looking to protest in Windsor over the weekend to make contact with us at the earliest opportunity."

    A Windsor cinema has opened this morning so people can view the Coronation for free on a big screen.

    The Old Court is operating on a first come, first served basis from 09:30 BST.

    An 89-year-old woman has recalled how she spent 24 hours on the streets of London waiting for the coronation procession of Queen Elizabeth II.

    Hilary Carpenter, from King's Somborne, Hampshire, left a Cambridge exam early to claim her place on the pavement in Trafalgar Square in 1953.

    A man arrested after making anti-monarchist comments at a proclamation ceremony for King Charles says he will protest on the day of the Coronation.

    Symon Hill, 45, from Oxford, was handcuffed and charged after he called out "who elected him?", but the charges were later dropped.

    He said: "I am seriously worried that I will be arrested again."

    Mr Hill was caught up in crowds for the ceremony at Carfax Tower in September, and heckled when King Charles III was declared the new monarch.

    He was charged with using threatening or abusive words or disorderly behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress, but a spokesperson for Thames Valley Police said "as part of its duty to keep cases under review" the CPS decided to "discontinue the matter."
