    I'm told that Hal Robson-Kanu has been given permission to leave Wales training ahead of a transfer.

    Robson-Kanu, currently a free agent, has an offer from West Brom and is set to travel to the Midlands club in the next hour for a medical.

    It seems Saido Berahino won’t be leaving West Brom today.

    Stoke had been interested in the England Under-21 striker.

    But Berahino wanted to move at the start of pre-season, when West Brom weren’t willing to sell.

    And as the transfer window has dragged on, it has appeared increasingly likely Berahino would remain at the Hawthorns.

    As I understand it, that is exactly what will happen.

    Investigations continue into how a major blaze at a popular Black Country restaurant started.

    Investigators say they may have been able to salvage some CCTV footage. 

    More than 100 firefighters tackled the flames at Hickory's Smokehouse, in Wall Heath, in the early hours of last Thursday morning.

  10. Efficiency savings lead to police recruitmentpublished at 14:14 British Summer Time 31 August 2016

    An efficiency drive means West Midlands police can now recruit more than 1,000 officers and staff, according to the region's Police and Crime Commissioner.  

    David Jamieson said they can now afford to take on 800 officers, 150 PCSO's and 200 specialist staff over the next three years. 

    He said he wants a force that's representative of the population.

    Stourbridge MP and Business Minister Margot James says it's "completely unacceptable" that pregnant women and new mothers are apparently being forced to quit their jobs. 

    The Women and Equalities Committee is calling for a German-style system, where, from the beginning of pregnancy until four months following childbirth, employers can only dismiss an employee in very rare cases - such as the company going bust - and it needs government approval to do so.

    The number of expectant and new mothers forced to leave their jobs has almost doubled to 54,000 since 2005, it said, external.

    The government said it would consider the recommendations carefully.

    After years of cuts, job losses and the closure of police stations West Midlands Police has announced it's biggest recruitment drive in a decade.

    More than 1,000 new jobs including 800 front line officers, 200 specialist staff and 150 extra police community support officers.

  16. 'Weeks-old' dead kittens dumped in lanepublished at 13:07 British Summer Time 31 August 2016

    Seven dead kittens, thought to be only a couple of weeks old, have been found dumped in a lane in Bromsgrove, the RSPCA says.

    The kittens were found in Pumphouse Lane, Hanbury on Saturday - the charity says two boxes found nearby suggest they were "deliberately dumped in the layby".

    The kittens had only just opened their eyes. Inspectors say they are keen to hear from anyone who might have more information.

    On the M5 there's a lane blocked on the exit slip road southbound at J4, A38 (Bromsgrove), because of a broken down vehicle.

    • Villa winger Adama Traore appears to be on his way to Middlesbrough, with Albert Adomah still a possibility to move in the other direction.  
    • BBC WM understands striker Lukas Jutkiewicz and left-back Rhoys Wiggins are in line for loan moves to Birmingham City – Blues are probably looking to move a couple of players out today too.
    • The rumour mill surrounding West Bromwich Albion is swirling vigorously. Midfielders Ignacio Camacho and William Carvalho have been strongly linked all week and now a swathe of strikers have been rumoured to be heading to the Hawthorns. It should be a lively day there.
    • Walsall expect young defender Rico Henry to join Dean Smith’s Brentford which may free up some cash for a late addition.
