    Aldridge's Ellie Simmonds has won her heat in the S6 400m freestyle - the final is due to take place at 01:00. 

    She broke the world record to win gold in the SM6 200m medleys last night to become a five-time Paralympic champion.

    BBC WM spoke to Ellie's dad Steve who said he was pleased - and relieved.

     A signalling problem, external between Hereford and Great Malvern is causing delays of up to 20 minutes and cancellations to trains between Hereford and Worcester Foregate Street, the National Rail website says.

    This is expected to continue until 8pm.

    London Midland route between Hereford and Birmingham New Street is affected.

  13. 'Crowd's' mobile phone footage sought after fatal stabbingpublished at 17:48 British Summer Time 13 September 2016

    People among a crowd that gathered after a man was attacked by several men filmed "what happened on their mobile phones," police say, external.

    A post-mortem revealed the victim - named today as father-of-two Zakir Nawaz, 22 - died from a single stab wound to the chest.

    Detective Inspector Shaun Egan of West Midlands Police said: “We understand that Mr Nawaz was attacked by several men and a crowd soon gathered with a number of people capturing what happened on their mobile phones.

    “A young man has lost his life and we owe it to his family to find out how and why he died. I would urge anyone who has any information, or possibly even footage on their phone which will help our investigation, to come forward."

    Jurors deliberated for more than three days in a case where Akhtar Javeed was shot at point-blank range during a raid at his warehouse in Digbeth, Birmingham.

    The prosecution claim Mr Javeed was shot by Tahir Zarif, who is believed to have travelled to Pakistan days after the shooting at the victim's catering supplies firm on February 3.

    Suraj Mistry, 26, of Laundon Way, Leicester, was cleared of his murder but convicted of manslaughter, conspiracy to commit robbery and possession of firearms with intent to cause fear of violence.

    A second defendant, Lemar Wali, 19, was cleared of murder and manslaughter but convicted of conspiracy to rob. 

    The jury panel has yet to reach a verdict on two firearms charges denied by Wali, of Osmaston Park Road, Derby and will resume its discussions on Wednesday. 

  19. Wheelie bins 'reducing' call-outs to rat problemspublished at 17:08 British Summer Time 13 September 2016

    Birmingham City Council, external has said fewer people are calling for help to deal with rats since wheelie bins were introduced across the city. 

    New figures suggest rodent control requests are down on last year by between 20 to 30 percent. 

    The council says wheelie bins stop waste spilling onto the street, which reduces the source of food available to pests.
