    A man has been found guilty of killing businessman Akhtar Javeed outside a warehouse in Birmingham.

    Surjat Mistry, 26, from Leicester, and 18-year-old student Lemar Wali, from Derby were accused of shooting dead Mr Javeed in Digbeth in February.  

    Both have been cleared of murder. Mistry has been found guilty of manslaughter and both found guilty of conspiracy to commit robbery.

  4. Additional rail service for Lord's finalpublished at 16:22 British Summer Time 13 September 2016

    An additional rail service will be provided for Bears fans travelling to London for the One-Day Cup Final at Lords on Saturday.

    Chiltern Railways will run an extra early morning service, calling at Warwick Parkway and Leamington Spa as well as Birmingham.

    Walter Zenga's Wolves face third-placed Barnsley at Molineux tonight, who are the division's top scorers after taking 12 points from their first six games.

    Walsall go to Bristol Rovers in League One, with boss Jon Whitney saying his young squad is heading in the right direction despite not winning since the opening day. 

    Gabby Agbonlahor played an hour for Villa Under 23's as they lost 3-0 at Fulham. 

    Trialists Marouane Chamakh and Mo Sissoko featured in Albion's 1-0 win over Brighton. Baggies boss Tony Pulis watched the game from the stands amid more speculation over his future, with the Chinese takeover set to be confirmed later this week.

    A Black Country charity is appealing for help after an attempted break-in at one of its shops.

    Thieves targeted the Beacon Centre shop on Bilston High Street on Friday evening, cutting through its phone line. 

    The charity, which supports blind people, says it's going to cost £150 to fix and is asking for donations.

  8. Watch: Farm fire burning for over a weekpublished at 14:45 British Summer Time 13 September 2016

    A farm fire has been burning for more than a week.

    People living near the fire, in Rugeley, Staffordshire, have been told there's "no significant health hazards" from the smoke.

    Hundreds of tonnes of wood waste has been burning at a farm on Slitting Mill Road since 5 September.

    Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service say it's carrying out a "controlled burn" because putting the fire out could affect water supply. 

    Residents have complained it's unpleasant to live close to.

    With the Paralympics well under way in Rio, there are plenty of sports in which to get involved closer to home.

    The English Federation of Disability Sport (EFDS) is taking a look at grass roots participation.

    Pete Bonner is from Wolverhampton and represented Great Britain in shooting at the 2013 World Dwarf Games. The veteran competitor, 50, is a range officer, which means he supervises new shooters as they learn. 

    He's been talking about his experiences, external, reminding prospective participants "you can achieve" in the sport.

    A Birmingham charity is getting a slice of £2m in Big Lottery cash. 

    Loaves 'n' Fishes , externalhelps people who are struggling financially to furnish their homes in addition to other services.

    It says the grant of more than £300,000 will help continue its work.

  11. Boundary change: Black Country could lose three MPspublished at 14:03 British Summer Time 13 September 2016

    The number of parliamentary seats across Birmingham and the Black Country would drop from 30 to 27 under proposed changes. 

    The Boundary Commission for England and Wales has drawn up proposals to cut the number of MPs from 650 to 600 at the next election, with boundaries tweaked so each constituency has roughly the same number of voters. 

    Three seats could go in the Black Country; one in Walsall, one in West Bromwich and one in Halesowen/Rowley Regis.

  16. Man killed in stabbing is namedpublished at 12:21 British Summer Time 13 September 2016

    A Birmingham man killed in Washwood Heath on Saturday has been named by West Midlands Police, external as 22-year-old Zakir Nawaz. 

    A post mortem exam has revealed he died from a single stab wound to the chest.

    Ten days before his death, Mr Nawaz became a father for the second time. As well as his newborn daughter, he also leaves behind a two-year-old son and his wife, Georgia, who has spoken of her loss.

    "Zak was a loving husband, father, son and brother. I was his queen and Zak was my world."

     A man arrested on suspicion of Mr Nawaz's murder has been released without charge.

    Four Birmingham nursery school teachers have written a letter warning of "devastating" consequences for their pupils if funding cuts continue. 

    There are 27 nursery schools in the city and 61 children's centres. One Birmingham MP says they're all under threat.

    Jack Dromey, the Labour MP for Erdington, claims the system is at breaking point. He said: "With the huge mounting budget cuts hitting Birmingham so hard, a wave of closures is inevitable in the next 12 months."

    The Department of Education says it's doubling free childcare for working parents and will be spending a record £6bn on childcare by the end of this Parliament.
