    People living in Rugeley have told BBC WM they are becoming fed up with a nearby farm fire that's been burning for more than a week. 

    It started last Monday when wood waste ignited on the site just off Slitting Mill road.

    Staffordshire Fire , externalsays a controlled burn is taking place, because putting it out could affect the local water supply. Firefighters will continue to make regular site inspections. 

  2. Former Rushall Olympic footballer dies after pitch collapsepublished at 10:28 British Summer Time 13 September 2016

    A former Rushall Olympic footballer has died after suffering cadiac arrest in a match last night.

    Daniel Wilkinson, 26, was playing for Barnsley-based Shaw Lane AFC against Brighouse Town.

    The former Hull City youngster played for Rushall last season.

    Proposals to redraw parliamentary constituency boundaries in England and Wales could see West Bromwich, Walsall and Wolverhampton each lose one of their MPs.

    The plans suggest the creation of new constituencies, among them Birmingham Brandwood; Wednesfield and WiIllenhall; Birmingham Selly Oak and Halesowen; Chelmsley Wood and Solihull North; Shirley and Solihull South; Alridge, Brownhills and Bloxwich; and Walsall Central.

    Meriden would join the Coventry West constituency instead of being one in its own right.

    Aldridge's Ellie Simmonds has won gold at the Paralympics in Rio, retaining the 200 metres individual medley title she won in London. 

    It was one of three victories for Para GB on a golden night in the pool - with Sascha Kindred and Susie Rodgers also winning gold.

    It's the 5th Paralympic gold of her career, talking to Channel 4 after the win, Ellie said, "I'm really chuffed. t's a target I've set and I've wanted to go under for a long time."  

  7. Birmingham to welcome Flying Scotsman steam trainpublished at 08:23 British Summer Time 13 September 2016

    The world famous Flying Scotsman steam train will arrive in Tyseley today as part of Birmingham Heritage Week, external.  

    It's the first time it's been to the West Midlands since its multi-million pound regeneration.

    The Scotsman, which was once the fastest steam locomotive in the world, won't be moving, but people will be allowed inside to see inside the engine room over the weekend.

    West Bromwich Albion boss Tony Pulis expects his future to be clarified in the next few days when the ownership of the club finally changes hands. 

    The Financial Conduct Authority is expected to follow the Premier League in approving Chinese businessman Guochuan Lai's takeover of The Baggies from Jeremy Peace. 

    Pulis was subject to more criticism from the travelling fans at the end of Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Bournemouth.

    Police investigating the death of a man who was stabbed in Birmingham at the weekend have released a man without charge. 

    A 25-year-old had been arrested on suspicion of murder after reports of a fight involving several men in Highgate Road, Washwood Heath. 

    A man in his 20s was pronounced dead at the scene.

    An actor in The Archers has praised the programme for bringing the issue of domestic abuse into public focus. 

    In an hour-long special of the Radio 4 soap opera which is recorded in Birmingham, a jury returned not guilty verdicts on Helen Titchener; a character on trial accused of attempted murder and wounding with intent.

    Listeners heard her character suffer increasing abuse at the hands of her husband Rob, who's played by Timothy Watson. 

    The actor said it was good that the programme had taken on the issue.
