  2. Victims of pub bombings relatives to stage peaceful protestpublished at 10:10 British Summer Time 4 October 2016

    Families of those killed in the Birmingham pub bombings will hold a peaceful protest outside the Conservative party conference today. 

    The relatives want funding for their legal team at the upcoming inquests into the 21 deaths. 

    They were refused the same kind of funding offered to the Hillsborough disaster families.

  3. Trial to resume of a former policemanpublished at 09:49 British Summer Time 4 October 2016

    The trial of a former policeman and scoutmaster from Birmingham accused of indecently assaulting eight boys during a 21-year period resumes later. 

    The city's Crown Court heard yesterday that a diary containing the names of some of the alleged victims was found at the home of Allan Richards from Tile Cross. 

    The prosecution say 54-year-old Mr Richards used a police computer database to check up on the boys. 

    He denies the charges.

    It's being reported, external that Aston Villa's preferred choice to succeed Roberto Di Matteo is the Huddersfield Town manager David Wagner, ahead of former Blues boss Steve Bruce. 

    The German has guided Huddersfield to the top of the Championship since joining them nearly a year ago. 

    Villa sacked manager Roberto Di Matteo yesterday and are 19th in the Championship with just one win this season.

    A man has died in a crash on the M6 between junctions two and one this morning, say police., external

    It happened just before 05:00 and involved a van and a lorry.

    The driver of a white Mercedes Sprinter Van died at the scene, a spokesman said.

    The driver of the lorry was uninjured.

  8. M6 accident: Disruption expected until 13:00published at 08:23 British Summer Time 4 October 2016

    Highways England say disruption on the M6 is expected to continue until around 13:00, external.

    It says they've release traffic caught up in the accident involving a lorry and a van, which happened at around 05:00.

  10. Travel: M6 diversion route after 'serious' accidentpublished at 08:02 British Summer Time 4 October 2016

    Police are diverting traffic away from the serious accident on the M6 at J2 via the M69 northbound to J1.

    The diversion run along the A5 eastbound and continues to the A426 southbound to re-join the M6 at J1.

    BBC Travel is reporting congestion to J3a (M6 Toll).

  18. Four people taken to hospital following M42 crashpublished at 17:31 British Summer Time 3 October 2016

    There's been a severe accident on the M42 Warwickshire northbound between Junctions Five and Six this afternoon.  

    West Midlands Ambulance service was initially attending to an incident on the southbound carriageway when it was informed of a collision northbound involving an HGV, three vans and a car. 

    Four people were taken to hospital.
