    A Bordesley Green dad says fly-tipping is so bad near him, he's setting up patrols to try to catch people in the act.

    Javed Iqbal already does a litter pick with friends and family around the area and has posted videos of beds, mattresses and other rubbish dumped on the streets.

    A Birmingham teenager has told BBC WM how Gary Barlow surprised her on her 13th birthday.

    Keeley Byrne's family, from Hall Green, had been campaigning for the Take That singer to turn up.

    Barlow had announced earlier this year that he'd be surprising people randomly by singing at their milestone events.

    A man who died from injuries sustained in a "non-stop collision" in Birmingham has been identified as Paul Donaldson, police say, external

    The 42-year-old, from Chelmsley Wood, was hit by a car in the early hours of Sunday, 25 September on Lawley Middleway between Ashted Circus and Curzon Circle. 

    A police appeal was launched to identify the victim who died later the same day. 

    A 29-year-old man arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop remains on police bail while the investigation continues. Another man, 78, arrested at the scene on suspicion of drink driving also remains on bail.

    Britain is in the grip of a health epidemic that's threatening to overwhelm the NHS. 

    More and more of us are being diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. 

    It's a hidden killer which can lead to heart failure, blindness, kidney disease and leg amputations. Now even children are being diagnosed with the condition. 

    Filming over six months, Panorama reports from the front line of the epidemic in Birmingham, where almost one in ten people has the disease.

    A drugs dealer kept a sawn-off shotgun and ammo in a box that a pushchair came in, West Midlands Police says, external.

    Officers found the weapons, according to the force, plus 30 bags of cannabis, when they raided a couple's flat in Newtown, Birmingham.

    Mohammed Makmahi, 23 - who threw the bags out of a window during the raid, officers said - was jailed at Birmingham Crown Court for eight years and three months for possessing the weapon and the drugs with intent to supply. 

    For the same drugs offence, his partner, Eltaf Mockbil, 22, received a two-year community order and was told to do 80 hours of unpaid work.

    A new enclosure developed by scientists from the University of Birmingham has made getting around for the animals more of a daily challenge. It means their movement and behaviour become more like those living in a natural habitat.
