    - Blues boss Gary Rowett told BBC WM he stayed at St Andrew's because of the prospect of the takeover, which is now complete

    - In the first round of the FA Cup, Walsall were drawn at home to National League side Macclesfield Town

    - In the same competition, Solihull Moors have a trek to League Two's Yeovil, while Stourbridge will go to National League South side Whitehawk in Brighton

    Plans to expand Birmingham Airport are set to be discussed by Theresa May's cabinet today.

    A government report commissioned by Lord Howard Davies had previously argued there wasn't a strong case for expanding the site. 

    He said it was operating well below its current capacity and expanding it would lead to an increase in noise for a relatively high number of people.

  12. Inmate charged with murder over attack in Cannock in 2012published at 17:50 British Summer Time 17 October 2016

    A man jailed for seriously injuring his housemate has been charged with murder, four years after the alleyway attack.

    Gareth Rowton, 35, is serving an 11-year sentence after admitting grievous bodily harm with intent over the attack in Cannock in 2012, police said.

    David Stanton remained in care after the incident outside their home in Old Fallow Road and died on 29 June, 2015.

    A post-mortem examination found he died from "delayed complications of a severe brain injury", police said.

    Walsall, Solihull Moors and Stourbridge are among the teams in the draw for the first round proper of the FA Cup, which takes place live on BBC Two from 19:00 tonight.

    The Saddlers are ball number 46, The Glassboys 55 and The Moors 77.

    The ties will take place in the first weekend of November.  

    Here's a list of West Midlands clubs in the draw and their numbers.

    Authorities are continuing to monitor the site of a fire in Staffordshire which has been burning for more than a month. 

    The stacks of wood waste at Oak Farm in Slitting Mill Road, Rugeley, have been capped with soil to reduce the amount of smoke. 

    Cannock Chase District Council is checking air quality on a daily basis.
