    A union claims jobs are at risk at Euro Car Parts whose main site is in Tamworth.

    The Community Union says the company's planning to move its employees to a new site just a few hundred metres away, and it's worried workers could lose their livelihoods.

    Euro Car Parts says it can "categorically confirm that it will not be making any compulsory redundancies" at its sites including Tamworth.

    Police investigating a murder in June have charged a Handsworth man. , external

    Ranjit Singh, 41, from Clarence Road, appeared before Birmingham Crown Court yesterday accused of murdering Umesh Parekh, a Birmingham man. 

    Mr Parekh, 34, was fatally stabbed in Waverhill Park in Handsworth on 19 June.

    Mr Singh was arrested by police two days later and detained under the Mental Health Act.

    Following his court appearance yesterday, he was remanded back to a secure mental health unit.

    A "bleak" employment landscape, with not enough graduates choosing to stay here, and higher than average numbers of black and Asian people out of work - that's the finding of a new report published today ahead of the election of a West Midlands mayor in May 2017. 

    The winner will lead a combined metropolitan authority - similar to the one created in Greater Manchester - and will include Birmingham, Coventry, Dudley, Sandwell, Solihull, Walsall and Wolverhampton. 

    The report from the Resolution Foundation sets out many of the challenges, external facing the mayor as they lead.

    Four parties have nominated their candidates:

    • Cllr James Burn, Green Party
    • Beverley Nielsen, Liberal Democrat
    • Sion Simon MEP, Labour
    • Andy Street, Conservative

  16. Parker resigns from Birmingham City Ladiespublished at 17:53 Greenwich Mean Time 12 December 2016

    Birmingham City Ladies manager David Parker has resigned after six years in charge. 

    In a statement, Blues Ladies say, external they expect to make key announcements regarding a new first team management and coaching structure in the next couple of days.

    Parker stepped up from the Centre of Excellence to become manager in 2011 before the start of the FA Women's Super League.
