Mr McCluskey's chief rival Gerard Coyne, West Midlands regional secretary, was seen as the anti-Corbyn candidate and Unite is the party's biggest donor.
Mr Coyne was suspended from his job as a Unite official on Thursday pending an investigation but he remains a member of the union.
He faces accusations of bringing the union into disrepute over claims made during the contest, which saw barbs flying from both sides.
Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce predicts the club's former defender Ugo Ehiogu will receive a warm tribute from both sets of fans at a derby game with Birmingham City.
Ehiogu has died after suffering a cardiac arrest on Thursday.
He made more than 200 appearances for Aston Villa between 1991 and 2000.
Bruce, who has managed both Birmingham clubs, was speaking ahead of Sunday's Championship clash at Villa Park and called Ehiogu's death a "tragedy".

Leaders from the worlds of business, culture and sport in Birmingham have backed the city council's interest in bidding for the 2022 Commonwealth Games after Durban in South Africa was stripped of the opportunity.
Former Aston Villa chairman Steve Hollis, now in the same role at the Greater Birmingham and Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership, said: "Given our unrivalled transport links, accommodation and world-class venues, we’re ideally placed to succeed.”
Fiona Allan, chief executive of Birmingham Hippodrome, said: "It’s our chance to demonstrate what an incredibly friendly and exciting city we have become, a confident city capable of hosting major international events, with plenty to occupy tourists during their stay."

Peter Clarke, Chief Inspector of Prisons, said the outcome of inspections was "reasonably positive", with adequate staffing levels and care for detainees.
But a number of recommendations to improve safety and detainees' welfare have been made following assessment at 13 courts.
Mr Clarke said: "While we had significant concerns about some unnecessarily long stays, handcuffing practice and the physical environment in court custody facilities across West Midlands and Warwickshire, we found much good attention to detainee care. We have made recommendations to improve the safety and care of people detained in court custody.”

The council said today its proposal to bid had been backed in a feasbility study by consultants Origin.
The study will still need to be scrutinised by full council before elected members vote on the city's next steps.
It is understood the merits of formal proposals from across the UK will be considered before the selection of a candidate to compete against rival bids from other Commonwealth nations.

It's been a very good morning for Warwickshire after being asked to bat by Surrey.
Ian Westwood played fluently, jumping on any scoring opportunities, while William Porterfield dropped anchor.
It would have been the perfect morning for the hosts had Porterfield not fallen two balls before lunch for 45 courtesy of a sharp catch by Kumar Sangakkara at first slip off Tom Curran.
Westwood was 76 not out at lunch, but Surrey have a wicket to give them encouragement heading into the afternoon session.
