    Avon and Somerset police are appealing for help to find a 14-year-old girl who has been missing for several days.

    Phoebe Sheldon was last seen in Highbridge at around 9.15am on Tuesday 12 September.

    Police say they are concerned for her welfare.

    Phoebe is white and has dark hair and blue eyes.

    She has links to the Highbridge, Burnham-on-Sea and Burrowbridge areas, while she could also be in Birmingham.

    Anyone who sees Phoebe is asked to call 999 and provide the call handler with the reference 5217206529.

    He could miss tomorrow's game with West Ham at The Hawthorns, due to a thigh injury.

    The dead bodies of a kitten and cat were found in a box pulled out of Walsall Canal.

    A member of the public saw a man in a hi-vis jacket throw the box from Bridgeman Street, Walsall, on 8 September, the RSPCA, external said.

    The eyewitness was concerned about the box's contents and contacted the fire service, which retrieved it from the water.

    RSPCA inspector Kate Levesley said: "It isn’t clear if [the animals] were alive or dead when they were thrown into the water, and this does concern us.

    "It is really heartbreaking to find animals like this. It makes no sense to go to this much effort for animals which were dead. If they were alive when thrown into the canal then they would have suffered horrifically."

    She said if people no longer wanted to keep an animal, they should contact the charity or other animal rescue organisations.
