    Lawyers for the brother of the alleged captor of British model Chloe Ayling say the entire case could be a "sham", invented as a "publicity stunt".

    Michal Konrad Herba, 36, is accused of conspiring with his brother Lukasz Herba, who was arrested in Tividale and is in custody in Italy, to abduct 20-year-old Ms Ayling.

    His lawyer told the extradition hearing at Westminster Magistrates' Court that the case had a "set of anomalies". Mr Herba has denied involvement.

    The court is set to rule on Friday.

    A US cyclist who entered a 100-mile bike ride thinking he'd booked an event in his native country decided - on realising his mistake - to make the transatlantic trip anyway.

    John Hoopingarner flew from Ohio to take part, having originally thought Sunday's Velo Birmingham was happening in Alabama.

    But what could have turned out to be an expensive mistake was transformed into a holiday as he decided to take in London and Edinburgh, with plans to go to Dublin before heading home.

    The famous Brummie was part of a Muppets spin-off album, Kermit Unpigged, which also featured collaborations with Don Henley, Jimmy Buffet and George Benson. It was hardly a big hit - it scraped into the Top 20 on Billboard's kids' chart - and did little for Ozzy's reputation among his base who fondly regard him as the Prince of Darkness.
