    Two charity workers from Warwickshire are to be recognised for the support they gave to a rape victim by the head of local policing.

    Melissa Horrocks and Louise Rooney from the charity Safeline, external helped the vulnerable young woman from Stratford-upon-Avon bring her attacker to justice.

    Neil Henderson, Safeline's CEO, said he hopes this case may help others to come forward.

    A 37-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man have also been arrested in connection with the death, on suspicion of supplying a class A drug.

    The victim, who was found at an address in Queens Drive, at around midnight has yet to be formally identified.

    A homemade bomb, made out of fairy lights and a pressure cooker could have been capable of causing a "significant explosion", a court has heard.

    Sentencing Zahid Husain to life in prison at Winchester Crown Court today, Mr Justice Sweeney said if detonated in a crowded area, the device would have been "potentially fatal to those within metres of it and would have potentially caused serious injury among those up to 10 metres away".

    Mr Justice Sweeney told Hussain it was clear he had been "strongly committed" to carrying out multiple bombings.

    "In your case, culpability is extremely high as more than one explosion was clearly intended, and the harm to be caused was ultimately loss of life or serious injury to the person," he added.

    A Birmingham man who planned to bomb a railway line has been jailed for at least 15 years.

    A homemade bomb made out of fairy lights and a pressure cooker packed with 1.6kg of shrapnel was found by police along with recipes for explosives and a map showing a drainage chamber.

    Zahid Hussain, of Naseby Road, Alum Rock was found guilty of preparing for an act of terrorism in May and was jailed for life this morning at Winchester Crown Court.

    The 29-year-old viewed hundreds of images from the so-called Islamic State of the war in Syria, the court heard.

    Books on guerrilla warfare were also found.

    Hussain will remain on licence for a further 30 years.

    The parent company of the M6 Toll motorway has recorded a pre-tax profit of £19m.

    It comes after loans were restructured to reduce interest payments.

    Earlier this year, the road was sold to a group of investors led by IFM, owners of Manchester Airports Group, Anglian Water and Arqiva - which also runs the transmitters used for BBC broadcasts.

    The road, which opened at a cost of £900m, bypasses the most congested parts of the M6 - starting at junction 3a and rejoining at junction 11a.

    A bus driver has appeared in court charged with killing a seven-year-old passenger and a pedestrian in a city centre crash.

    Kailash Chander, 79, is alleged to have caused the deaths of Rowan Fitzgerald and 76-year-old Dora Hancox by dangerous driving in Coventry in October 2015.

    Mrs Hancox, a former foster carer from Nuneaton, and primary school pupil Rowan were both pronounced dead at the scene after the double-decker bus struck the side of a Sainsbury's supermarket in Trinity Street.

    Mr Chander, from Leamington Spa, also faces two counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, while bus operator Midland Red (South) Ltd has already admitted two health and safety breaches.

    Former Leamington mayor Mr Chander was not asked to enter a plea, speaking only to confirm his name during a 45-minute hearing at Warwick Crown Court.

    Judge Andrew Lockhart QC granted Chander unconditional bail to provisionally appear at Birmingham Crown Court at a later date.
