    The Sky Blues' top scorer has returned to the club having scored twice for his country, Haiti.

    City drew their last away match at Barnet 0-0, and captain Michael Doyle acknowledges they need to add creative attacking play to their strong defence.

    The West Midlands mayor Andy Street will greet other mayors, including Manchester's Andy Burnham and London's Sadiq Khan, at Birmingham New Street today.

    It's ahead of a new study which looks at future congestion.

    The National Infrastructure Commission has looked at concerns that the UK faces gridlock on the roads and railways, slower broadband connections and worsening air quality, unless the government tackles the problem.

    The report is being launched at Birmingham City University.

    Birmingham's bears have sold at auction for more than £250,000.

    The Big Sleuth statues were displayed across the city during the summer and went under the hammer last night to raise money for Birmingham Children's Hospital.

    The auction at Thinktank, Birmingham's science museum, saw the Sweet William bear, which was voted the most popular bear, sell for £6,100, while the Peaky Blinders bear sold for £5,900.

    Two years ago The Big Hoot, which saw giant owls on city streets, raised more than £500,000 for the hospital.

    The decision of the West Mercia Police and Crime Commissioner to push ahead with his plans to take over control of two fire services has been criticised by the chair of Shropshire's fire authority.

    Councillor Eric Carter said he was "disappointed" that John Campion had submitted his proposals to the Home Office, saying it was "against the wishes of the four principal local authorities, the two fire authorities and his own crime panel".

    Primary school children in Shropshire are being offered balance bike lessons, to help them get to grips with riding a bicycle at a young age.

    Shropshire Council has paid for the bikes and helmets and is aiming the classes at pupils in reception, year one and year two.

    The children get four 45-minute sessions, in which they are taught to get on and off the bikes, push off, control the bikes and come to a stop.

    A driver who failed to stop after knocking down and killing an 80-year-old man in Walsall has been jailed for nine years.

    A jury at Wolverhampton Crown Court heard 42-year-old Terry Poole, of no fixed address was travelling at speeds of up to 90mph in a 30mph zone in his Mercedes convertible when he struck Salvatore Bongiovi in Lichfield Road.

    Mr Bongiovi had been crossing the road with a shopping trolley, collecting groceries for a housebound friend and he died of his injuries in hospital.

    Poole, who had been driving with an expired provisional licence with stolen number plates, was found guilty of causing death by dangerous driving.

    Two kittens have been found, abandoned in a cardboard box in a children's playground in Shropshire.

    The RSPCA said a dog walker spotted them at the park in Morda.

    The charity says both are black, around five months old and appear to be in good health.
