The RSPCA says an escaped 4ft (120cm) royal python in Meir Hays, Stoke-on-Trent is unlikely to pose a threat to people in the area.

    Quote Message

Royal pythons feed on a variety of prey in the wild but in captivity they are fed on appropriately sized rodents, such as mice or rats. It is highly unlikely that a royal python would attack a cat or a dog; it is more likely that the royal python would be at risk from attack in this situation."

    RSPCA

Anyone who sees the snake, which escaped yesterday, is advised to contact the police on 101 or contact the RSPCA.

The animal welfare charity says due to the cold temperatures it's more than likely to be at risk from being attacked in the wild.
