    Worcester City FC Supporters Trust has lodged an appeal against the decision to refuse planning, external for a new stadium at Perdiswell.

    The City Council rejected the application over concerns about the impact on the surrounding residential area and the club's board of directors has agreed to support an alternative proposal at Parsonage Way in Warndon.

    But the Supporters Trust wants a community-owned facility at Perdiswell.

    A reward is being offered to try and help find the person who killed a cat by attaching a firework to its tail.

    Bruce, who was 18 months old, was found dead near his home in Stoke-on-Trent on 24 October.

    An anonymous donor has put up a £500 reward for information that leads to a prosecution.

    Andrew Hunt, senior vet at Stoke PDSA, said Bruce had "some of the most horrific injuries we have ever seen".

  5. Man killed in firework attack 'had no enemies'published at 17:00 Greenwich Mean Time 13 November 2017

    The daughter of a man killed in "cowardly" attack in an arson involving a commercial-sized firework has said her father had "no enemies".

    Former Land Rover worker Mr Nicholls, 56, died in hospital five days after the blaze in Birchtrees Drive, Tile Cross, Birmingham.

    His daughter Fiona Nicholls called on anyone with information to contact police.

    "It's horrendous what's happened to my dad. Words can't describe how me and my family are feeling," she said.

    "My dad made no enemies. He was hard-working, he was a funny man. I just want someone to come forward and give any information whatsoever."

    Det Insp Paul Joyce said: "The couple were attacked by what I believe are a group of people who are local to the area.

    "The victims were at home having a Chinese takeaway when somebody burst through their front door.

    "I'm not sure what the motive is for this attack at this time."

    A suitcase containing gems including rubies, emeralds and sapphires, worth more than £1m, was stolen from a train travelling between London Euston and Birmingham New Street, transport police say.

    A jewellery dealer boarded the 19:03 service in London on Wednesday 8 November and put his suitcase on a luggage rack.

    When the train arrived at Rugby, he realised the bag, containing about 40 gems, was missing.

    Detectives believe the suitcase was most likely stolen from the train before it left the station at Euston, and have released CCTV pictures of a man they'd like to speak to.

    The land situated at Wildwood was earmarked for redevelopment as part of the long-term regeneration of the area, but has been unused and become overgrown.

    The council has set aside about £30,000 of money from its Pride in Our Community fund to bring the land back into use as a community green space.

    Australians "like to talk a lot" and England need to stay "calm" during the Ashes, says all-rounder Moeen Ali.

    Moeen, 30, who plays for Worcestershire, has recovered from a side strain and will play in England's final warm-up game, starting on Wednesday.

    Moeen told BBC Sport: "It's about being ready for that first ball when it's delivered in Brisbane."

    Moeen is on his first Ashes tour down under and says he is ready for the intensity of the series and any hostility from the Australia players.

    "Australians like to talk a lot, big themselves up," he said. "That's part of the game. It's not something that I haven't had before."

  14. Gun crime rises in West Midlandspublished at 15:10 Greenwich Mean Time 13 November 2017

    Gun crime has risen steadily in the West Midlands force area in recent years.

    A national gun surrender was launched in Birmingham today in a bid to take firearms off the streets.

    In 2013, the West Midlands Police recorded 515 crimes involving guns. By last year that had risen to 584 offences.

    Only a fraction of those involve people being killed. In September, West Midlands Police said there had been seven fatal shootings since 2015.

  15. Health bosses look to extend 'social prescribing' schemepublished at 15:00 Greenwich Mean Time 13 November 2017

    The government is being asked to spend £500,000 on a so-called social prescribing scheme in Shropshire.

    It sees GPs referring patients with no specific medical problem to groups such as exercise classes, gardening or art programmes.

    It's already running in Oswestry but health bosses want to roll it out across the county.

    Dr Kevin Lewis at Shropshire Council's Health Team said it was another "tool" for GPs, who sometimes felt pressured to write a prescription for medication.

    A bull on the loose in Solihull has been shot dead by police.

    With the help of its owner, officers attempted to capture the animal, but it escaped, West Midlands Police said.

    As it posed a risk to the public, the force said it was forced to kill it.

    The force said for a while the bull entered the grounds at Monkspath Junior School, but at no time were pupils or staff in danger.

    Work begins on the railway section of the Telford footbridge project today.

    Passengers are being advised , externalto allow extra time if using Telford Central station.

    When completed, the bridge will provide a new link between the train station and Telford Town Centre.

    An injured dog rescued by traffic officers, after they spotted it on the central reservation of the M42 near Redditch, has made a complete recovery says Highways England.

    The road was partially closed to aid the rescue of the animal, which was wrapped an emergency foil blanket while the officers waited for the RSPCA to arrive.

    Bo, the German Shepherd cross was eventually reunited with her owners, and has made a full recovery after suffering a fractured hip.

    Nigel Lea, from Highways England, said: "We don’t always get many happy endings when it comes to animals and motorways but thankfully this was one case that ended well."

    We've been reporting about a note left on an ambulance criticising paramedics' parking while they were treating a critically ill man in Small Heath, Birmingham.

    The man has since died, the Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust confirmed.

    A man suffered serious head and facial injuries following an "unprovoked" attack in Stoke-on-Trent at the weekend, say police., external

    The 30-year-old left the Reflex Bar in Hanley at about 03:20 on Saturday morning and was repeatedly kicked and punched to the ground by a group of five men in Stafford Street.

    The victim remains in hospital in a stable condition.
