Ironbridge conservation work startspublished at 07:10 Greenwich Mean Time 13 November 2017
Work to conserve the world renowned Iron Bridge in Shropshire begins today.
Dating back to 1779, the historic structure is under threat from cracking due to stresses in the ironwork.
English Heritage described it as "one of the wonders of the modern world", a symbol of the Industrial Revolution and arguably the most important bridge ever built.
The organisation is now launching its first ever crowd-funding campaign in a bid to raise £25,000 towards the overall £3.6m repair bill.
