    Ashley Johnson has signed a contract extension with Wasps.

    He is in line to make his 150th appearance for the club on Saturday, when Wasps play Newcastle Falcons at the Ricoh Arena.

    Johnson, who has scored 175 points for the club, said: "It has been a real honour to represent Wasps for the past six years. It is a massive privilege to have re-signed with the club.

    "I have been at Wasps from the start of this new journey in Coventry and I want to be a part of continuing that journey with the club."

    Patrick Harley, leader of the council, said the pitch's proximity to a number of nature reserves made it difficult to stop the animals getting in.

    "Badgers are a wild animal and as such are protected by law. This means that the council is severely restricted as to what it can do, but we are making every effort to protect the pitch, including strengthening and securing fencing," he said.

    Stoke-on-Trent businesswoman Denise Coates, founder of online betting company Bet365, took home more than £200m last year, it's been revealed.

    In 2016, she became the highest-earning businesswoman in UK history, bringing in £117.5m from salary and dividends.

    Asked about it on BBC Breakfast this morning Carolyn Fairbairn, director of the CBI said if companies are willing to take big risks, then big rewards can be "entirely appropriate".

  5. Iron Bridge conservation scheme gets £880k donationpublished at 13:11 Greenwich Mean Time 13 November 2017

    The £3.6m project to conserve Shropshire's Iron Bridge was given a welcome boost thanks to a one million euro (£880,000) donation from a German foundation.

    "Not only do we admire the Iron Bridge as an important technical landmark, but we also see it as a potent reminder of our continent's common cultural roots and values," Jochen Muennich of the Hermann Reemtsma Foundation said.

    Kate Mavor, English Heritage's chief executive, said: "The Iron Bridge is one of the most important - if not the most important - bridges ever built."

    As well as stresses in the pioneering, but unrefined, ironwork, the bridge was also damaged in an earthquake in the 19th Century.

    Thanks to the latest donation, just £25,000 is now needed to complete the work - English Heritage has launched a crowdfunding page to raise the money.

    There's a bull on the loose in Monkspath, Solihull.

    Police described , externalthe bull as a "young brown bull", and that it is currently being "contained in a field".

    Earlier there were reports of the animal in the town centre and, the Birmingham Mail reports, external, near Monkspath Junior and Infant School.

    Earlier, police said the bull was causing queues on some local roads.

    Two police cars were damaged as officers took part in Remembrance parades yesterday.

    A parade was being held in Brookvale Park, Erdington, when two men smashed the windows of the cars.

    Police want to speak to two men who were spotted driving towards Brookvale village on a moped.

    Coventry City Council should consider imposing limits on the number of students who can live in a residential area, according to a Conservative councillor.

    It's after a survey by locals in the Cannon Park area, found that 40% of the family homes in the area, have been let out to students at the University of Warwick.

    A Leamington-born footballer's become a world record holder after playing his 1250th competitive game at the weekend.

    Wisbech goalkeeper Paul Bastock has made his 1,250th appearance to surpass Peter Shilton's record in competitive club football.

    The 47-year-old played the full game as the United Counties League Premier Division side won 4-1 in front of 286 people at Thetford Town in the FA Vase.

    A national gun surrender has been launched today in the West Midlands.

    While anyone handing over weapons won't face prosecution for possessing them, the firearms will be tested to see if they were used in recent crimes and charges could be brought over those.

    That's why it's a gun "surrender", not "amnesty".

    Realistically, police chiefs know weapons being handed over are more likely to have been inherited or discovered in attics, rather than come from gangs.

    However, officers are keen to limit the number of guns that criminals can get their hands on and it's hoped this latest campaign will help.

    A £10,000 reward has been offered for information about the death of man killed by a commercial-sized firework that was deliberately put in his home.

    Anthony Nicholls, 56, died in hospital following the blaze at his home in Birchtrees Crescent, Tile Cross, on 2 November.

    A critically ill patient taken to hospital in an ambulance that had a rude note left on the windscreen while paramedics treated him has died.

    The man had been taken from an addiction rehabilitation centre to Heartlands Hospital in Birmingham on Friday night, after going into cardiac arrest.

    A spokesman for Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust said: "We can confirm that the patient in question sadly passed away."

    The hand-written note read: "You may be saving lives, but don't park your van in a stupid place and block my drive."

    A Birmingham company advertising furniture has been removed from eBay and Facebook, after customers said their goods never arrived.

    A joint investigation by BBC WM and the Radio 4 You and Yours programme, has seen listeners get in touch about Xquisite Interiors.

    eBay said any transaction not completed on their platform, including a case where a buyer follows instructions on an email and sends money to a bank account is not an eBay transaction.

    It has since removed the company from its website, Xquisite Interiors have failed to comment.
