    A 19-year-old man from Stoke-on-Trent has been arrested on suspicion of assaulting two paramedics in the city centre.

    Police say it happened about 09:00 this morning on Keelings Drive in Trent Vale as ambulance crews were attending a 999 call.

    A man's been found guilty of using an axe to murder his wife whose body was found outside a Birmingham branch of Lidl.

    Police said Nyasha Kahari - also known as Gillian - was discovered in January with "catastrophic" head injuries in a car outside the store in Mackadown Lane, Tile Cross.

    Norbert Chikerema, 42, of Overdale Road, Quinton, Birmingham, confessed to killing the 35-year-old mother-of-four but claimed he was not of sound mind at the time, and denied her murder.

    Jurors at Birmingham Crown Court on Tuesday found him guilty of murder. He is due to be sentenced on Wednesday.

    He said he was hoping to inspire the pupils to make the most of their education.

    He also said he's still learning after 12 months at Villa Park.

    A consultant based at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham has appeared in court charged with sex offences.

    Vibhore Gupta, 52, from Wintney Close, Birmingham, denied three charges of sexual assault and one of assault of a female by penetration.

    He was granted conditional bail to appear at Birmingham Crown Court in December.

    A spokeswoman for the trust that runs the QE said Mr Gupta was "currently excluded".

    The trust which runs Shropshire's two main hospitals says it's experiencing one of its busiest times of the year.

    The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is urging people to "think twice" before visiting A&E after saying yesterday was the second busiest day in 2017 for the departments, with 426 patients attending.

    On Monday, we reported that one woman in Ludlow had to wait nearly two hours for an ambulance after suffering a head injury.

    The wife of a British paraglider who was murdered while travelling in Mongolia has said she is "relieved" his killer has been jailed.

    Fifty-three-year-old Steve Nash, from Helsby in Cheshire, was killed in a robbery while crossing the Khangai mountains in September 2016.

    Gantulga Batsukh was found guilty of murder and given 16 years in jail on Friday, the Nash family's lawyers said.

    His wife Shirley said Batsukh "ended Steve's life [and] ended mine too".

    A photographer who has captured South Asian immigrants settling in the UK since the 1950s - and had his first exhibition at the age of 94 - is to have his first book launch.

    Maganbhai Patel - known as Masterji - arrived in Coventry from India in 1951 and spent many years taking photographs of his community.

    His first book will see a collection of 66 images and is set to be launched at St Mary's Guildhall in Coventry next week.

    Two brothers from Staffordshire have each been jailed for 15 years for the attempted murder of a man they attacked with a brick.

    The pair, from Cheddleton, are said to have subjected their 24-year-old victim to a 15-minute attack because they thought he'd shown a lack of respect to a relative who died in a car crash.

    Craig Griffiths, 46, and 45-year-old John Griffiths, both of Moorland Road, attacked the man on nearby Grange Road (pictured) on 16 May, leaving him with "life-changing injuries", according to the Crown Prosecution Service.

    The men were sentenced at Stafford Crown Court on Monday.

    A former headteacher accused of a raft of child sex offences has been remanded into custody following his appearance at Walsall Magistrates Court earlier.

    Timothy Moule, 46, from Shropshire, was arrested in April, and in addition to 15 child sex offences he is accused of one count of child abduction.

    A Christmas grotto is getting a "quiet hour" for visitors with autism.

    The periods - on four separate days over two weeks - are being offered at a store in Birmingham city centre.

    Profits from tickets to the event, which runs from November 30 until Christmas Eve, are to be donated to a children's charity, House of Fraser says.
