There's a call for councils in the Black Country and Shropshire to intervene to stop the removal of public phone boxes.
In the area, 137 boxes are on a list of 20,000 across the country which BT plans to remove as mobile phone use becomes more common.
The Liberal Democrats are calling on local authorities to make use of Ofcom rules which state BT must inform the public and consult with local authorities, who can object within 90 days.
Previously, BT has said the removal of payphones is carried out "in strict adherence to Ofcom guidelines and, where appropriate, with the consent of local authorities".
