    A teenager says he hopes a new film will raise awareness of what life can be like for families living with facial disfigurement.

    Marcus, 13, from Herefordshire, was born with an unusual facial cleft and cleft palate.

    He's told the BBC about growing up and having to endure staring from children and adults and a range of taunts such as "Scarface", "Two-Face" and "the Joker" at school.

    His story is similar to that of the film Wonder, which is being released in UK cinema's this week and is about a boy born with a facial difference and his parents.

    Marcus and his mother, Sam, have already seen the film and say it addresses many of the issues they have faced - repeated operations, name-calling, staring.

    Parts of Warwickshire and Worcestershire have been ranked among the places in England with the worst outcomes for those from disadvantaged backgrounds

    A new State of the Nation report from the Social Mobility Commission has ranked all 324 local authorities in the country in terms of prospects for someone from a disadvantaged background.

    There is a "postcode lottery" with "hotspots" and "cold spots" found in all regions, it says.

    In the West Midlands, North Warwickshire's been ranked 307 and Wychavon 310.

    Hundreds of weapons have been handed to West Midlands Police in its latest gun amnesty, external.

    It took place over the last two weeks and was in response to a national rise in the number of people killed or injured by guns.

    The latest figure of 252 is double the number that were handed in during the last amnesty in 2014.

    A woman who led a groundbreaking strike in the 1970s has been remembered for her "extraordinary bravery".

    In 1976, Jayaben Desai led the first walkout in revolt at poor working conditions at the Grunwick film processing factory in London.

    Eventually more than 20,000 people joined in the protest and, although the strikers eventually gave up the struggle, it did focus attention on the plight of immigrant workers in the UK.

    Now, a play's been written about the strike, We Are The Lions Mr Manager, and is on tour.

    Writing in the Daily Mirror, Birmingham Erdington MP Jack Dromey, external, who at the time was the secretary of Brent Trades Council, says Mrs Desai was inspirational and "had a way with words that captured the very essence of the human spirit".

    A man is still being questioned by police following his arrest on suspicion of murder after a woman's body was found at a bedsit.

    Officers were called to an address on Kings Road in Erdington, Birmingham, external yesterday morning.

    West Midlands Police says efforts were made to save the injured 38-year-old but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

    The force says the 51-year-old man they arrested at the address is believed to be known to the victim.

    Buyers from all over the country are in Worcestershire this morning for the annual holly and mistletoe auctions in Tenbury Wells, external.

    The historic events have been held in the town for more than 100 years and are the largest and most popular in the UK.

    The mistletoe grown around the market town is sold off to the highest bidders.

    The auctions are happening at Burford House Garden Store in Tenbury every Tuesday for the next three weeks.

    Police are looking for a man charged with a string of sexual offences, after he failed to appear at court.

    Stephen Beal, 54, of Claremont Road, Seaford, is charged with a total of eight historic sexual offences including rape.

    A warrant has been issued for his arrest after he failed to attend Lewes Crown Court on 30 October.

    Beal was last seen in Staffordshire and is also known to have links to Cambridgeshire.

    A council needs to restore voters' trust in future elections, external, after a damning review of problems faced in the general election, the losing candidate says.

    Hundreds of people were unable to vote following administration failures at Newcastle Borough Council.

    It was one of the country's most marginal seats with just 30 votes between Labour's Paul Farrelly, who held the seat, and Conservative Owen Meredith.

    Two of the authority's senior officials have been suspended.

    The leader of the Staffordshire council has apologised for the shortcomings.

    Stoke-on-Trent's Phil Taylor will play youngster Chris Dobey when he begins his final challenge at the PDC World Championship next month.

    The 16-time world champion has been drawn against Bedlington's Dobey who's is seen as one of the sport's top young prospects and the world number 38.

    Taylor will retire following the event as he bids to bow out of the sport in a blaze of glory at the Alexandra Palace.

    A road in Shropshire's set to be shut, external "for some time" after a lorry hit a bridge.

    Crews had to use winches to get the lorry stable. The driver's been taken to hospital although the extent of his injuries haven't been revealed.

    West Mercia Police says the bridge has been damaged so the road's likely to be shut for a while.

    Uttoxeter swimmer Adam Peaty says he's "honoured" to be nominated for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2017 award.

    The 22-year-old's been named on the 12-person shortlist alongside other sportspeople like Sir Mo Farah, Lewis Hamilton and Johanna Konta.

    They will go forward to a public vote on the night of the live show in Liverpool on Sunday, 17 December.

    This year, Peaty won two world titles and broke his own world record twice in one day at the World Aquatic Championships in Hungary in July.

    He tweeted last night , externalthat being nominated was "a great way to celebrate an incredible year".

    Firefighters have been tackling a large factory fire in Stoke-on-Trent.

    Staffordshire Fire Service says its crews were called to Dudson Armorlite on Hobson Street, Burlsem, at 23:30.

    Six fire engines were used and there was a suspected risk of asbestos in the roof.

    The fire's now out and fire crews are investigating what caused it.

    Tory minister John Profumo - who resigned over a notorious 1960s sex scandal - had a relationship with a Nazi spy, declassified records suggest.

    MI5 documents suggest the minister, who was MP for Stratford-upon-Avon for 13 years, had a relationship with German model Gisela Winegard in Oxford in the early 1930s, before she became a spy in Paris.

    In 1963 he resigned as a minister after it was revealed he lied to the Commons about his affair with Christine Keeler.
