    Cyclists are campaigning for a new velodrome to be built for the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

    Cycling track in Halesowen

    Birmingham was announced as the host city for the event in December.

    The closest cycling track to the city is in Halesowen and it's an outdoor tarmac track, built in 1948.

    Track cycling for the 2022 Games will be held in London but campaigners have started a petition saying a new track in Birmingham would be the perfect legacy.

    Six British Army members, who've become the first all-female team to ski across Antarctica, are returning to Coventry University's environmental chamber for testing.

    The Ice Maidens (as they are known) first visited the facility in November , externalbefore setting out on their 1,700km (1,056mile) coast-to-coast journey in November.

    Now they've completed their challenge, experts want to measure the impact that the extreme environment has had on their bodies.

    One of the UK's largest industry exhibitions is issuing a new code of conduct over the use of "promo girls".

    Last year, Construction Week, held at Birmingham's NEC, faced criticism over the use of costumed women to staff an exhibitor's stall.

    It featured Las Vegas-style showgirls selling roofing products.

    Now the show is introducing guidelines on diversity, equality and inclusion , externaland a code of conduct for exhibitors, including on the design and staffing of stands, as well as the clothing worn.

    West Brom manager Alan Pardew hopes Daniel Sturridge will be fit within two weeks after he limped off three minutes into Monday's 3-0 defeat at Chelsea.

    Sturridge, who joined the Baggies on loan from Liverpool last month, was substituted after an innocuous chase for possession with Cesar Azpilicueta.

    Pardew said the injury was "probably a bigger blow" than the defeat in striker Sturridge's third appearance.

    The Atlantic Ladies have finished rowing 3,000 miles (5,000 km) as they took part in an ocean crossing race.

    This was the moment Di Carrington, 61, from Pontesbury, Sharon Magrath, 54, from Shrewsbury and Elaine Theaker, 54, from Wales, celebrated after crossing the finish line:

    The trio set off from the Canary Islands in December and spent about 60 days at sea before arriving in Antigua this morning.

    A 42-year-old woman was at the Smethwick Galton Bridge station on 15 January when British Transport Police say she was assaulted.

    When she turned round to confront the man, he ran off.

    For the first time in nearly 100 years, a new bell is being hoisted into the tower at Worcester Cathedral.

    The £15,000 bell has been donated by one of the ringers, Bernard Taylor, and will be named St Clare in memory of his sister.

    The Atlantic Ladies rowing team have not only finished their epic journey across the ocean, they've also set three world records, organisers say, external.

    They were taking part in the Talisker Whiskey Atlantic Challenge and officials say they set the record for fastest female trip across the Atlantic and oldest female trio to cross the ocean, external.

    Di Carrington, 61, from Pontesbury, could also be the oldest female to cross the ocean by rowing.

    The trio, who also include Sharon Magrath, 54, from Shrewsbury and Wales' Elaine Theaker, 54, spent around 60 days at sea and finished at 06:36 GMT today after rowing 3,000 miles (5,000 km), external.

    Shrove Tuesday means pancakes to many people but, in part of Warwickshire, it also means time for the annual Atherstone ball game, external.

    The game involves hundreds of men and boys battling it out for the ownership of a heavy leather ball.

    The winner is the person who manages to keep hold of it until the end of the game and their prize is to take it home with them.

    This year players will have a new ball, the first to be made in the town since 1982.

    The Atlantic Ladies have crossed the finish line after rowing about 3,000 miles (5,000 km) across the ocean.

    Sharon Magrath, a nurse from Shrewsbury, and Di Carrington, a retired businesswoman from Pontesbury, were in the boat along with Elaine Theaker from Wales.

    The team set off on 12 December from the Canary Islands, external and arrived in Antigua this morning, possibly setting a few world records in the process.

    On their Facebook page, they say they capsized twice in last 24 hours, external but were "beaming" when they crossed the finish line, external.

    A senior West Midlands Police officer who had Top Secret papers stolen from his car boot will face a disciplinary panel today.

    Assistant Chief Constable Marcus Beale is set to answer an allegation of gross misconduct. He is currently suspended from work.

    In December, magistrates fined him £3,500 after he admitted leaving the papers in a locked briefcase, which was stolen from his unmarked car in May.

    The car had been left at a rail station while he went on holiday.

    Holiday flights from Birmingham to Tunisia have resumed almost three years after a terror attack which claimed the lives of 38 people.

    Tour operator Thomas Cook is operating the flights and the first one left Birmingham Airport just after 06:00 with more than 200 people on board.

    Four people from the West Midlands were killed when a gunman opened fire on tourists in the resort of Sousse in June 2015.

    Adrian Evans, 44, a council worker from Tipton, died along with his 78-year-old father Patrick and nephew Joel Richards, 19, from Wednesbury, and Sue Davey from Tamworth.

    A book of condolence has been set up in tribute to an 11-year-old girl who was killed last week.

    Jasmine Forrester died in hospital on Friday after being found stabbed at a house in Kent Road, Wolverhampton.

    She attended SS Mary and John’s Catholic Primary Academy who have set up the book.

    Her uncle, Delroy Forrester, 51, of Lower Villiers Street in Blakenhall, has appeared in court charged with her murder.

    The result leaves West Brom seven points from safety after one win in 25 league games.
