  1. Crack down on knife crime launchedpublished at 14:23 Greenwich Mean Time 13 February 2018

A crack down on knife crime has been launched by West Midlands Police this morning.

The force says it will search parks for hidden weapons, arrange undercover operations to find shops selling blades to children, intercept weapons imported over the internet and arrest high-profile suspects.

    Knives

There will be an emphasis on steering children away from knife-crime and officers will be visiting schools to educate pupils about the dangers.

Some schools will have knife arches designed to detect any weapons being brought on to premises.

The people we find most often in possession of a knife in public are young men aged between 15 and 19. A common excuse we hear is that it’s for their ‘protection’ - but that is a total fallacy and it’s shocking how many times young men are seriously hurt by the very knife they are carrying."
