    A woman who verbally abused paramedics and left an abusive note on an ambulance windscreen in Stoke-on-Trent has been fined £120 after admitting a public order offence.

    Earlier, at North Staffordshire Justice Centre, Kirsty Sharman, 26, from Tunstall, offered her "most sincere apologies to the ambulance staff".

    The ambulance had been responding to a next-door neighbour's call to assist his wife, who was "experiencing breathing difficulties", prosecutor Liz Ryder told magistrates.

    In addition to the fine, Sharman was also ordered to pay £135 in costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

    Three men are being treated for stab wounds, with two in a serious condition, after a triple stabbing in Nuneaton, police say.

    Warwickshire Police said armed officers were called to Barpool Road in the town at 09:45 today.

    The force said two people have been arrested - one is in hospital and the other is in police custody.

    Police were still at the scene this afternoon and a cordon remained in place.

    The funeral of a 51-year-old woman who was shot outside her home near Newport was taking place this afternoon.

    Cheryl Gabriel-Hooper died in her car on 26 January. A 45-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of her murder.

    Today's funeral was taking place at St Michael and All Angels Church in Lilleshall.

    The ruling Labour group insists its budget will protect frontline services and allow money to be spent on big projects such as the Friargate scheme around Coventry railway station.

    But opposition Conservative councillors believe an additional £500,000 could be saved by holding council elections less often and shaving the budget for trade unions.

    Among other things, they propose spending that cash on extra street cleaning staff and helping charities in a soon-to-be-demolished tower block relocate.

    Plans by Coventry City Council to paint the ceiling of a medieval undercroft have been met with criticism.

    St Mary's Guildhall dates back to the 1300s - making it one of Coventry's oldest buildings.

    Carol Donnelly, who runs the Priory Visitor Centre in the city said the council could end up "ruining" one of the city's "hidden gems".

    In a statement the council said Historic England has not "formally objected to the whitening of the panels, but asked to ensure that our conservation officer is happy with this work.

    "The conservation officer has agreed as long as the paint used is breathable and reversible.”

    A building thought to be the last coracle shed in England has been given a grant of £76,000 by the Heritage Lottery Fund so it can be restored.

    The Ironbridge Coracle Trust believes it was built in 1927 and was used to build the same round boats which have been used in the area for hundreds of years.

    The shed had been owned by the same family for generations, but fell into disrepair after the death of its last owner in 2003.

    The group bought the building in 2014 with a £40,000 grant from Telford and Wrekin Council and the authority contributed another £30,000 to improve access to the shed last year.

    Hospital bosses in Worcestershire have apologised after 14 of the 21 ambulances in the county were stuck outside the Worcester Royal Hospital on Friday night.

    Paramedics were unable to unload their patients, with 10 being stuck for more than three hours, and West Midlands Ambulance Service has complained about the situation to the Care Quality Commission.

    The trust which runs the hospital says it's working closely with the ambulance trust and other local health and care organisations and its "priority remains the safety of patients".

    Officers were called to Stafford Road in Wolverhampton shortly after 18:00 yesterday.

    The car left the scene, and later on a 19-year-old man handed himself into a police station.

    The road was closed for a number of hours while the area was made safe.
