    Soldiers who died on the front line during World War One are going to be commemorated with plaques on the houses where they used to live.

    The Royal British Legion wants to celebrate their lives, a century on from the conflict.

    Their Stafford branch has been contacting the owners of the houses of the soldiers to ask if they'd be happy to have a plaque on their house.

    People in Shropshire could be charged £40 to have their green waste collected.

    The authority has a long-term plan to bill householders which it says would bring in an extra £1.5m.

    However, it's not something it can do this year as it's tied into a contract with Veolia.

    Dozens of other councils across England already charge to collect garden waste, although critics in Shropshire say the idea is another tax on the poor.

    The government knew of a plan that could have recouped more than £360m from Carillion before it went into liquidation, reports the Guardian on its front page today., external

    A plan presented by the accountants EY would have involved breaking up the firm and selling off the profitable parts.

    Some of the funds raised could have been put into company pension schemes.

    However instead of taking that course of action, directors of the firm believed they could rescue the firm by convincing banks to swap debt for shares in the firm.

    Police investigating three suspected arson attacks on a Coventry supermarket say despite them happening at exactly the same time, over a period of four days, they're not linking them "at this stage".

    CCTV is being examined and forensic investigations are being carried out after the attacks which happened on 28 February, and 1 and 3 March at Sainsbury's in Canley.

    Ch Insp Hasson Shigdar said further attacks were a "possibility".

    He said each attack happened at about 10:30 and are keen to speak to anyone who was in the store at the time.

    Burton Albion will have Tom Flanagan fit for their home game against Brentford tomorrow after he recovered from a calf injury.

    Hope Akpan is a doubt after twisting his ankle in training, while Marvin Sordell is available after missing the defeat by Millwall because of illness.

    Burton have never beaten Brentford in the Football League and go into the game second-from-bottom in the Championship, three points behind Barnsley who are just above the relegation zone.

    Herefordshire Council says it's prioritising its efforts to clear snow in rural areas for "those most in need".

    It's after a family on Hegdon Hill, near Pencombe, said they felt abandoned by the authority having been snowed in and cut off since Tuesday.

    The Plants told the BBC they were running low on supplies and their roads were blocked by snowdrifts up to eight feet (2.4m) high.

    The council says they're working to clear as much snow as possible but is targeting priority cases including people with medical issues.

    The story of The Silent Child, the film starring a deaf British girl which won an Oscar last night, started when its Stoke-on-Trent writer was 12.

    Rachel Shenton, 30, told the BBC ahead of the Academy Awards that was when her father went deaf after receiving treatment for chemotherapy.

    She says that made her learn sign language and she fell in love with it and the deaf community, seeing the struggles that deaf children face due to a lack of awareness about deafness.

    Her boyfriend, Chris Overton, encouraged her to write a script about the issue which became the Silent Child, which he directed.

    The pair also told the BBC how important it was for them that the title role had to be played by a child who was profoundly deaf and that led to Maisie Sly, six, being cast, despite never having acted before.

    A night shelter in Hereford says it's seen demand from homeless people rise by up to 20% during the winter.

    St Peter's night shelter takes in rough sleepers in the city centre , externalfrom December to this month, with space for 16 men and three women each night.

    Volunteers have told BBC Hereford and Worcester that they've seen a "significant uplift" in the number of vulnerable people coming through their doors.

    Another 87 workers at collapsed construction giant Carillion are being made redundant, taking the total so far to almost 1,500, reports PA.

    A further 150 workers will transfer to firms which have picked up contracts Carillion was delivering.

    The Official Receiver said 8,216 jobs have been saved since the Wolverhampton company went into liquidation in January.

    Cadbury has joined Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) in stopping production at its site because of water shortages.

    Both firms confirmed they shut down after Severn Trent approached them.

    The water firm's battling a huge rise in burst pipes , externalacross its area because of the thaw, after last week's freezing weather.

    Both of the companies could not say when they would restart production with JLR saying it's told workers on its night shift not to come in.
