    The eight people killed on the M1 near Newport Pagnell in August 2017 were all travelling in a minibus.

    In all, 11 Indian tourists were on board travelling from Nottingham to London, ahead of a trip to Disneyland Paris.

    The court heard Ryszard Masierak, who was twice the drink-drive limit, had stopped in the inside lane of the motorway.

    Fellow HGV driver Wagstaff was on a hands-free call when his lorry forced the minibus under Masierak's stationary lorry, the trial heard.

    A lorry driver has been jailed for 14 years for causing a crash that killed eight people on the M1 last year.

    Ryszard Masierak, 31, from Evesham, was convicted of eight counts of causing death by dangerous driving at Aylesbury Crown Court last month.

    Lorry driver David Wagstaff, 54, of Derwent Street, Stoke-on-Trent was jailed for three years and four months after admitting eight counts of the lesser charge of causing death by careless driving.

    An illegal firearms operation run by a gun enthusiast and his son was linked to the fatal shooting of Carl Campbell in December 2016 in West Bromwich, a trial heard.

    Kevin Bates ran an "undercover" business out of his Birmingham home with the help of son, Connor, daughter Trudy and nephew Nathan Bates, Birmingham Crown Court was told.

    Forensic testing by the National Ballistic Intelligence Service of the tools used by Kevin Bates linked his operation to 24 crime scenes in all, including the murder of Carl Campbell, who was "shot dead in a hail of bullets".

    Jailing several members of the family, Judge Francis Laird QC said it was a "sophisticated operation" to supply ammunition to those "with serious criminal intent".

    Kevin Bates, a wild west convention enthusiast, was jailed for 23 years, and son Connor for 20 years.

    Nathan Bates, 30, of Heathway in the city was jailed for three and a half years, Trudy Bates will be sentenced on 6 April.

    A father and son have been jailed for supplying firearms and ammunition linked to 20 crimes in the West Midlands.

    Birmingham Crown Court heard that Kevin Bates, 46, of North Roundhay, Kitts Green was "highly skilled" in adapting and modifying firearms.

    Hundreds of rounds of homemade ammunition were found when police raided his workshop in September 2016. He was jailed for 23 years.

    His son Connor, 23, was described as his right-hand man and "sales manager" who negotiated with criminals to supply them with weapons and ammunition. He was jailed for twenty years.

    All Tex-Mex Chimichanga restaurants are set to close in the West Midlands, with Italian chain restaurants Prezzo under threat - in a restructuring of the company.

    Chimichanga has branches in Solihull and Telford.

    Prezzo has backed a restructuring plan that will see it close 92 outlets - about a third of the chain.

    It is the latest of a number of restaurant chains to run into difficulties.

    A walkway is being built on the side of the Iron Bridge in Shropshire to allow people to see the conservation work close-up.

    English Heritage is carrying out the £3.6m project and raised more than £47,000 towards it through a crowdfunding appeal last year.

    The charity said it was putting up a walkway to feature displays explaining the techniques used to save the bridge. There will also be windows and portholes so visitors can see the conservation in action, the organisation said.

    The bridge is under threat due to problems with the original casting, as well as ground movement in the Ironbridge Gorge and damage from an earthquake in the 19th Century.
