    Shrewsbury will have to wait a bit longer to hear if it's got funding for a new bypass, with the government choosing to fund projects in Leicestershire, Devon and Yorkshire in its latest spending announcement.

    Steve Davenport, Shropshre Council's cabinet member for highways and transport, says he's disappointed the latest bid for money to build the North West Relief Road hasn't been successful.

    Yesterday Mr Davenport met transport minister Jesse Norman, alongside Shropshire MPs Owen Paterson and Daniel Kawczynski, to press the case for the relief road.

    He said Mr Norman told the delegation they should hear by late summer whether their bid for funding has been successful.

    More than 130 tower blocks in Birmingham had the same cladding as that on the Grenfell Tower, a council report has revealed.

    It adds that the privately owned blocks have been flagged up to the government and the fire service, which has discussed remedial action with landlords.

    The report, which will go to the city council's cabinet next week, external, says there'll be more checks on cladding on the Ward Block 1 building at Good Hope Hospital, Sutton Coldfield and the Hybrid Theatre at Heartlands Hospital.

    Firefighters tackling a huge fire on waste land in Brierley Hill say they have got the blaze under control.

    There's about 30 of them still on the scene on Brettell Lane, external after being called just after 13:10.

    They said the fire involved a lane amount of cardboard and wood and had to call in a digger to help shift some of the wood so they could get to the more hidden spots.

    Onlookers tweeted that the blaze drew a large crowd , externaland the plume of smoke could be seen for many miles.

    Telford and Wrekin Council has agreed to pay for improvements to the Anstice Memorial Hall in Madeley.

    The local authority agreed to help out after fundraisers were twice refused money from the national lottery.

    Details are yet to be finalised, but the refurbishment is expected to start next year and it will involve the local library moving into the building.

    There are still long delays on the northbound M6 in Cheshire and surrounding routes after a four-lorry crash left one man trapped this afternoon.

    Increased numbers of trains between Birmingham and the East Midlands could help grow the region's economy by £5bn each year, according to a report.

    The comments were made by during a presentation by Maria Machancoses, the director of Midlands Connect, the transport arm of the government's 'Midlands Engine'.

    She said securing the extra trains between Birmingham, Derby, Leicester and Nottingham would also help meet the demand of the growing labour market.

    The full details were set out at a meeting of the West Midlands Combined Authority's Transport Committee, according to the local democracy reporting service.

    "These improvements will mean more seats on faster trains, less congestion on the motorways and better access to HS2 trains from cities and towns across the Midlands without a dedicated HS2 station," Ms Machancoses said.

    A chocolate replica of Windsor Castle chapel, complete with bearskin-wearing soldiers, has been created to mark the royal wedding this weekend.

    The design depicts the front facade and turrets of Windsor Castle - with St George's Chapel visible in the background.

    The creation, which stands at over 2ft (75cm) tall, comprises the equivalent of 1,111 bars of chocolate, and took four days to make, Cadbury said.

    Among the victims remembered at the National Memorial Arboretum today were four who died in the terror attacks in Tunisia in 2015.

    Charles Patrick Evans, his son Adrian Evans, 49, and grandson Joel Richards, 19, all from the West Midlands, were all shot dead at the Sousse beach resort.

    Worcester Homeless Rugby Club has been running for the last four years at the city's YMCA, but Worcestershire County Council owns the land and has deemed it "surplus to requirements".

    A driver trapped after four lorries collided on the M6 in Cheshire this afternoon has been cut free and airlifted to hospital, police say.

    The crash happened on the northbound side on the slip road by Knutsford Services.

    The motorway was shut at J18 on the north side but North West Motorway Police says , externalone lane has been reopened past the scene while the other lanes will stay shut while the vehicles are recovered.

    They've not said what injuries the airlifted driver's suffered.
