    Police are set to use special stop-and-search powers, external after a teenager suffered gunshot wounds at the weekend.

    The West Midlands force said shots were fired on College Road, Saltley, on Saturday. An 18-year-old man attended hospital with gunshot wounds said to be non life-threatening.

    Officers will be using "Section 60" powers in areas of Alum Rock and Saltley this evening until 05:00 on Tuesday.

    They allow officers to stop and search someone without suspicion they are involved in wrongdoing.

    The Warwickshire force said it received reports of a Sunday morning attack near Goldsmith's Way, Nuneaton.

    The arrested man, 24, was detained on Sunday afternoon. He's been bailed until the middle of next month.

    A ban on fast food outlets close to schools has come into force in Wolverhampton.

    The council says applications to open such premises will be turned down if they're within 400m (437 yards) of a school.

    The authority claims the "density" of takeaways in the area is linked to childhood obesity.

    The ban will be further discussed by councillors on Thursday, external with businesses including McDonald's questioning what impact it will have.

    The electric E-Type Jaguar driven by Prince Harry and his new bride to their wedding reception was a one-off prototype, according to the car firm behind it.

    Tim Hannig, director of Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) Classics told Radio 2's Chris Evans the car was created "to find out what the public appetite is for the world's most beautiful car with zero emmissions".

    The electric Concept Zero model was built at JLR's Classic Works workshop in Coventry.

    The car goes from 0-60 in 5.5 seconds, and has a range of 200 miles when fully charged, he said.

    "We had to limit the top speed to 100mph because we think that's pretty good."

    There was no confirmation why the vehicle was a left hand drive, as many spotted on Facebook, external, but it could be a nod to the Duchess of Sussex's American roots, or the fact that many original E-Types were built for the USA market.

    A large group of young men armed with knives and sticks have reportedly attacked a teenager in Stoke-on-Trent.

    Officers say a 16-year-old boy was cut on the chest but didn't need hospital treatment.

    Tributes have been paid to a soldier who died in a crash in Gloucestershire.

    Joshua Gilbert-Bufton, 20, was killed when the VW Golf he was driving collided with a lorry on the A417 on Crickley Hill at about 4am on Wednesday 16 May.

    His family said he grew up in Torquay before moving to Hereford and joining the army at 19 years old.

    Emergency crews have closed the A488 between Shrewsbury and Hanwood and six fire engines are in attendance.

    The fire broke out at the Lower Edgebold industrial estate near Hanwood this afternoon.

    The units have been evacuated but it's unclear whether anyone is injured.

    The Conservative party looks set to take over a seat on the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) board after announcing plans to take control of Walsall Council.

    It was revealed on Friday that Mike Bird, leader of the Walsall Conservative group, will instruct councillors to vote against the appointment of a new Mayor in Walsall later today.

    The vote would mean that a Conservative Mayor will remain in control, effectively giving the Conservatives a casting vote, despite only holding 30 of the 60 seats on the council.

    In the event of a tie, the Mayor has the deciding vote.

    The BBC WM Dementia Choir launches today as part of the Make a Difference campaign.

    An attempt to break a world record for a long-distance relay is under way and expected to last through the next couple of days.

    Men and women who are part of the RAF from across the UK are taking part at RAF Cosford, Shropshire, in trying to run a 100 x 10km relay.

    The current record is held by a USA team with a record of 69 hours, 6 minutes and 52 seconds.

    The attempt started this afternoon at 13:00 and each of the athletes needs to run around the 400m track for 25 laps in 41 minutes.

    Handcrafted steel butterflies are going to be sold to help support a dementia appeal.

    The Blue Butterfly appeal has been set up by Shrewsbury & Telford Hospital NHS Trust.

    A range of the butterflies , externalhave been created at the British Ironwork Centre in Oswestry.

    They're due to go on sale in July and the trust says all profits will go towards funding dementia-friendly spaces, buying equipment and resources.

    The fire service says the blaze started off involving a stable building, a barn and 10 tonnes of straw yesterday morning at Lount Farm, Anslow near Burton upon Trent.

    It then spread to the caravan storage area before dozens of firefighters brought it under control after several hours.

    The service says they also rescued several horses and add that, while they haven't yet worked out the exact cause, it's not thought to be suspicious.
