    A public consultation starts today into , externala plan to radically overhaul services at two Shropshire hospitals.

    Health bosses say the way the Royal Shrewsbury and Telford's Princess Royal are currently set up means people aren't getting the best care possible.

    They want to rearrange services so that rather than both hospitals offering the majority of services, one becomes home to emergency care and the other the base for planned care, such as surgery.

    The consultation is giving people the option of either picking the Shrewsbury or Telford site to be the base for A&E and runs for the next 14 weeks.

    The dairy firm Arla is closing its cheese packing plant in Malpas and transferring the work to Oswestry.

    The city council has been awarded £246,000 from the National Grid Warm Homes Fund to help struggling homeowners with costs of things like damp proofing, boiler replacement or repairs.

    Privately rented tenants could get up to £5,000 if their landlord agrees to match-fund the contribution.

    A senior officer who gave evidence at an inquiry into a man's fatal shooting by police in Cheshire "may have committed a criminal offence", the police watchdog has said.

    A report regarding the conduct of Assistant Chief Constable Steven Heywood has been passed to the Crown Prosecution Service.

    ACC Heywood authorised the operation in which Anthony Grainger died in 2012.

    No evidence was found against a second officer being investigated.

    Warrington and Vale Royal College said its Hartford campus near Northwich was "seriously under-utilised".

    In a letter, Northwich mayor Janet Myerscough-Illidge said closing "state-of-the-art facilities" built in 2012 would be a "huge loss".

    The college said the plan would ensure it is "financially sustainable".

    The 38-year-old is wanted by Leicestershire Police in connection with the attempted murder of a man at a house in the city in January.

    Officers would also like to speak to Mr McIntosh, from Leicester, about a woman who was attacked during the same incident.

    The force said it's carried out extensive inquiries to locate Mr McIntosh.

    It is believed he has links to Leicester and Birmingham.

    Firefighters in the West Midlands could strike over contracts for new entrants into the service.

    The Fire Brigades Union (FBU) said new imposed contracts by West Midlands Fire Authority are "exploitative of the newest employees".

    Firefighters entering the service would take on any work the service dictates outside the agreed role of a firefighter, the union said.

    Andrew Scattergood, chair of the FBU in the West Midlands, said: “There is an overwhelming strength of feeling that these contracts are bad for the fire service, firefighters and the public they serve."

    Campaigners have lost their battle to move a HS2 railhead earmarked for land near Stone in Staffordshire to an alternative site.

    Campaigners fear that more than 500 HGVs a day are expected on roads near Stone during the construction of the HS2 railhead.

    Stone Railhead Crisis Group petitioned Parliament to move the railhead and infrastructure maintenance base to an alternative site near Madeley.

    The storms which battered Birmingham over the weekend saw a tree brought down onto a car.

    It happened on Shady Lane in Great Barr on Sunday, just after 17:00.

    Resident Lara Pike took some pictures of the scene. She said the road was temporarily blocked while the emergency services arrived and the branches were cleared.

    The male driver was uninjured and had been able to get out of the vehicle, the ambulance service said.
