    A biker died after his motorcycle and a car collided in Coventry last night, police said.

    The man in his 50s died at the scene after the crash in Hall Green Road, at the junction with Almond Tree Avenue, in Wood End, at about 18:30.

    The driver of the car, a 28-year-old man from Radford, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

    He remains in custody for questioning, said West Midlands Police.

    One of Jaguar Land Rover's major suppliers is opening a new £26m factory in the Black Country today.

    About 40 jobs will be created at Steel and Alloy in Oldbury, owned by the Spanish firm Gonvarri Steel Services.

    It's the first phase of development on the site for the company, which services the automotive industry across the West Midlands.

    Twenty pairs of rare hazel dormice are to be released into the wild at a secret location in Warwickshire to help save the breed from extinction.

    The number of hazel dormice across the UK has fallen by 70% over the last 20 years.

    It's the third time the creatures have been reintroduced into the county.

    Taxi drivers in Wolverhampton are to stage another go-slow convoy on the city's roads, protesting that the council is granting too many licences.

    More than 8,000 have been issued by the authority in the last three years.

    The drivers say they want tougher tests for applicants to check their knowledge of the law and of Wolverhampton's streets.

    The council has yet to comment.

    A date’s been set for a review into the 31-year prison sentence handed to Barry Bennell.

    The former Crewe Alexandra youth coach was convicted in February of 50 counts of sexual abuse against 12 boys between 1979 and 1990.

    The 64-year-old, now known as Richard Jones, who also worked at Manchester City, is challenging the length of the jail term and a hearing will be held on 20 June at the Royal Courts of Justice.

    Detectives investigating a fight between two groups of youths in Redditch say they're trying to locate a 21-year-old man and have released this photograph.

    West Mercia Police said four people received knife wounds following the confrontation in Mickleton Close and two needed hospital treatment.

    Wasps captain Joe Launchbury has been declared fit to return for England for the second Test against South Africa in Bloemfontein.

    The forward missed Saturday's 42-39 defeat by the Springboks at Ellis Park with a calf issue.

    Launchbury is set to come straight back in to the starting XV, replacing Nick Isiekwe in the forward pack and England are considering handing a first start to Brad Shields in the back row.

    Crewe Alexandra's Michael Raynes says he has no issues with the managerial team at the club, despite being left out of the team last season.

    The central defender made 32 appearances in the campaign but didn't start a game after 20 February.

    However, Raynes told BBC Radio Stoke that manager David Artell kept him fully informed about why he wasn't being picked.

    Part of a disused school's been gutted by a fire.

    Four fire crews were called to Field Close, Bloxwich , externallast night and spent almost four hours tackling the fire.

    West Midlands Fire Service says around 10% of the building was damaged by the fire and the cause is still being investigated.

    A former Herefordshire councillor, who faces charges of criminal damage and harassment, has had her case adjourned after suffering a brain haemorrhage.

    Glenda Vaughan-Powell, who is 73 and from Hereford, was due to appear before magistrates in the city today, but is currently recovering in hospital.

    She represented the Belmont ward for the Independents until 2015 and is accused of carrying out the offences between 23 December and Boxing Day last year.

    Coventry City have agreed a fee with non-league Mickleover Sports for defender Morgan Williams.

    The 18-year old's agents, Pro Vision Football, say the two teams have settled on a figure, thought to be around £100,000, but no deal's been signed.
