    A man's been charged with murder after a body was found at a flat in Bedworth.

    A 37-year-old of no fixed address was charged last night, Warwickshire Police said.

    He's been remanded in custody to appear at Leamington Magistrates' Court later today.

    The man who died has been named as 39-year-old Julian Perry.

  2. Two thousand homes hit by water problemspublished at 07:33 British Summer Time 27 June 2018

    Homes in Telford, Much Wenlock and Whitchurch have spent one of the hottest nights of the year without water.

    Severn Trent last updated their customers at 04:00, external this morning to say their teams are "working hard to get the water back on for everybody as quickly as possible."

    Up to 2,000 homes are thought to be affected - either without water or suffering lower pressure.

    Emergency tankers have been brought in to inject water into pipes in some areas.

    It was the second night of water problems for customers in Telford - who suffered disruption on Monday night because of air in the pipes.

  3. 'Large sinkhole' keeps road closedpublished at 07:23 British Summer Time 27 June 2018

    A road in Bimingham remains closed after a burst water main caused a "large sinkhole" to open up yesterday.

    The pipe ruptured along Chapel Lane in Great Barr, flooding the area around it.

    The road could be closed for the remainder of the week.

  4. Lake search for missing boy to resumepublished at 07:11 British Summer Time 27 June 2018

    Rescue teams will start searching for a third day, to try and find the missing 13-year-old Ryan Evans at Stoke-on-Trent's Westport Lake.

    Emergency services called off their search late last night because of the poor light.

    Ryan has not been seen since getting in to trouble in the water, just before 17:00 on Monday afternoon.

    The teenager is a pupil at Haywood Academy in Burslem, a spokesperson for the school says it has made sure there's professional support for students during this difficult period.

    More than 650 cannabis plants, worth an estimated £500,000, have been found at a property in Digbeth.

    West Midlands Police said the building was a former cash and carry shop which was now derelict.

    They also found evidence people had been living there.

    Lloyds bank in the Donnington area of Telford was robbed this morning.

    The building on Wrekin Drive - targeted by two men - has been sealed off while investigations are carried out.

    Nobody is reported to have been hurt in the raid at 11:20.

    The men are believed to have escaped in a black Seat Leon.

  13. Taxi driver could have clues to mystery deathpublished at 18:53 British Summer Time 26 June 2018

    A taxi driver could have vital information about the unexplained death of a Worcester man, West Mercia Police says.

    Officers were called to Lavender Road in Worcester in the early hours of 21 June. There 58-year-old Keith Paul, from Gheluvelt Park, was found lying in the street.

    Police say they believe a taxi driver picked up a couple from The Cross at about the same time and drove down the road where Mr Paul was discovered.

  14. Fish rescued as river levels fallpublished at 18:50 British Summer Time 26 June 2018

    The Environment Agency is working to rescue fish from the River Teme, upstream of Leintwardine.

    It says river levels have been falling because of the warm weather.

  15. Shropshire awards first county cap for seven yearspublished at 18:46 British Summer Time 26 June 2018

    Shropshire captain Steve Leach has become the first player to be capped by the county in seven years.

    The opening batsman, who topped the county batting averages last season, was presented with his cap ahead of Shropshire's Minor Counties Championship season opener against Cheshire at Shifnal on Sunday.

    The last players to be capped by the county were Richard Oliver and Anthony Parker, both former captains, in 2011.

    Leach, 24, the younger brother of Worcestershire captain Joe Leach, made his Shropshire debut in June 2011.

    Worcester Wolves Basketball Club have confirmed head coach Paul James is to leave the club at the end of the month.

    James has been head coach for the past seven years, during which time the Wolves won both the BBL Trophy and the play-off final.
