    Worcestershire all-rounder Ed Barnard was the stand-out performer for England Lions as he made a losing debut against India A at Grace Road, Leicester.

    Shropshire-born Barnard was the Lions’ most economical bowler, taking 2-51 from his 10 overs as the Indians piled on 309-6., external

    He then made 31 with the bat as the Lions posted only 207 to slip to a 102-run defeat against India A at Leicester.

    Barnard, who is missing Worcestershire’s current day-night Championship game against Notts at Trent Bridge, will again play for the Lions on Thursday against West Indies A at Wantage Road, Northampton.

    Motor neurone disease sufferer Noel Conway says he'll now take his case to the Supreme Court.

    It's after the Court of Appeal today ruled against his challenge to the law on assisted dying.

    His wish is to enlist the help of medical professionals to die "peacefully" but the law currently prevents Mr Conway from being helped to die.

    Reacting to the Court of Appeal ruling against him, the 68-year-old from near Garmston, near the Wrekin, says he is "naturally disappointed" but will keep fighting.

    A drone has been brought in to help control the seagull population in Worcester - by finding hidden nests.

    The measure is the latest in the city council's bid to deal with the nuisance birds.

    The authority is hoping to reduce the number of breeding pairs by swapping the eggs in their nests with fake ones.

    A terminally ill man has lost his battle at the Court of Appeal against a "blanket ban" on assisted dying.

    Motor neurone disease sufferer Noel Conway, from Shrewsbury, who says he feels "entombed" by his illness, has fought a long legal battle for the right to a "peaceful and dignified" death.

    The 68-year-old retired lecturer wants to be helped to die - which the law currently prevents.

    His case was rejected last October, but he appealed to three senior judges who ruled against him today.

    Coventry City manager Mark Robins has described the signing of midfield player Abu Ogogo as a "brilliant capture".

    The 28-year-old has agreed a three-year deal with Coventry after turning down a contract offer at Shrewsbury Town where he'd been captain.

    Ogogo also played more than 250 games for Dagenham and Redbridge.

    The prospect of Channel 4 moving its national headquarters to the West Midlands could move a step closer today.

    Bosses from the London-based broadcaster are visiting the region to hear more about a combined bid by Birmingham and Coventry.

    The two cities have been shortlisted as possible locations for the new base - along with Stoke-on-Trent - which is bidding to become a Creative Hub for the broadcaster.

    A seven-year-old girl has died after a battle with a brain tumour.

    Lily-Mai Bishop from Worcester had medulloblastoma, a brain tumour, as well as hydrocephalus - which creates pressure on the skull.

    Writing on the Lily's Cancer Journey Facebook page, external her mum Liz said: "I am very heartbroken to say that Lily-Mai’s journey ended on Monday when she gained her angel wings."

    The family say they want to give her a "princess" send off and they've set up a Just Giving Page to help pay for her funeral.

    Severn Trent says people will be experiencing "intteruptions to their water supply".

    They are working to get everything back to normal, they apologised to customers and said they "know how difficult it is to have no water".

    The water problems affecting thousands of homes in Shropshire are caused by air locks in the system, Severn Trent Water says.

    Peter Edney said the firm had "plenty of water", although recent hot weather had seen an increase in demand".

    In turn, he said that caused extra air to be taken into the system, leaving "pockets of air" blocking pipes and preventing water from getting through.

    Engineers are trying to clear those air locks, while also rerouting supplies to try to reach some of the properties affected.

    A man in his 30s is in hospital with "serious head injuries" after a crash involving a car and an HGV, West Mercia Police said, external.

    It happened on Saturday morning at about 04:00 on the M54 westbound between junctions three and four near Shifnal.

    Officers wants to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time.

    The search to find missing teenager Ryan Evans will resume shortly.

    The 13-year-old has been missing since Monday evening after he went into the water at Westport Lake, Stoke-on-Trent with two other boys.

    We've been told it's a very complex search. It's a weedy lake at the bottom, there are things that are making it very difficult for the teams.

    The Environment Agency spent yesterday rescuing trout, salmon and eels, which had become trapped in shallow water in Herefordshire.

    About 70 fish were captured and placed in water tanks, at Leintwardine where the River Teme was beginning to "dry out", Dave Throup from the organisation, said.

    The fish will now be moved to deeper water to ensure numbers don't drop.

    A car has gone through the wall of a care home, causing "extensive damage".

    Handsworth Fire Station said, external an "elderly resident [was] lucky to escape with no injuries".

    It happened at Ashmill Residential Care Home in Handsworth.
