    Telford and Wrekin Council says one of Europe's largest cranes, brought in for the job, is now fully built.

    A woman who faced being deported to South Africa, despite a medical report saying she'd be likely to die, says she's won her battle to remain in the UK.

    Brenda Ackerman, 71, moved to Lower Broadheath, Worcestershire, with her family in 2012 and, despite numerous appeals, her application to stay was repeatedly turned down.

    Her family says she was told she had to return to South Africa, a country she hasn’t lived in for nearly 15 years, and where she has no friends or family.

    But today, she says she received confirmation from the Home Office that she can stay for the next 10 years and her family told BBC Hereford and Worcester that they're overjoyed.

    Three men have been arrested after reports of a man brandishing a gun which police believe may be linked to a previous incident.

    Officers say, after being called to Pretoria Road, Stoke-on-Trent, they searched a house but didn't find any firearms.

    The trio, aged 23, 25 and 40, all from the city, were arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm and remain in custody.

    Detectives say they're looking into whether it's linked to a violent assault on the same street on Saturday.

    In the earlier case, a man suffered serious injuries after being reportedly shot in the eye with an air weapon which, at the time, police believed was a, external "targeted attack".

    A call for the M6 Toll road to be nationalised, after price rises of up to 10% were announced, has been made by the RAC.

    The motoring research organisation said the route, operated by Midland Expressway Ltd (MEL) should be brought under the control of the government-owned Highways England.

    Price increases will be brought in from 30 July, the company announced today.

    MEL said: "The M6 Toll offers significantly increased reliability and reduced journey times compared to the heavily congested M6 through Birmingham and continues to offer great value for money for drivers."

    The firm's faced struggles all week in the Much Wenlock area, blaming poor supply or low pressure on a surge in demand creating pockets of air in its network.

    But as of this afternoon, Severn Trent says the problem's fixed although it's still urging people not to use garden sprinklers and baths.

    Businesses and schools in parts of Cheshire are without water this afternoon in the hot weather.

    Parts of Crewe, Congleton and Bridgemere all have a reduced water supply.

    Bridgemere Primary School says it's had to send children home due to its supply being cut off.

    United Utilities says the heatwave has caused a surge in demand for water, causing pressure to drop.

    Police say they're protecting a man in his 20s and his family after he was shot in Nuneaton this morning.

    A police cordon is still in place around the scene, on Bull Street in Attleborough and extra patrols are being carried out in the area.

    Warwickshire Police believes the man, who remains in a serious condition, was targeted deliberately.

    Officers in Cannock say the driver told them the commercial bin hadn't been emptied, so he was dragging it to the recycling centre.

    The force hasn't revealed if he was given a penalty or just a warning for his actions.

    An "extremely dangerous" man suffering paranoid schizophrenia was fleeing an outstanding murder conviction in India at the time he stabbed his brother-in-law to death.

    At Wolverhampton Crown Court today Sukhwinder Singh, 41 of Macdonald Close, Tividale, West Midlands , was jailed for life with a minimum term of five years and made subject to a hospital order.

    At an earlier hearing he admitted the manslaughter of Harish Kumar on the grounds of diminished responsibility.

    Sentencing, Judge Michael Challinor told Singh: "I have to say the circumstances of this offence lead me to conclude without hesitation that you are an extremely dangerous individual."

    A man has been arrested on suspicion of wounding after a man suffered serious injuries in a machete attack in Wolverhampton.

    A 24-year-old man is in hospital in a stable condition after the incident on Tremont Street, on Tuesday 26.

    A 21-year-old is being questioned after handing himself into a police station last night.
