Moeen Ali has been appointed Worcestershire captain for this summer's T20 Blast. But the 31-year-old Birmingham-born England all-rounder will only have a limited availability, because of his international commitments.
Moeen is expected to be part of the England one-day squad who face three successive T20s and three one-day internationals with India over the next fortnight.
That would rule him out of the first five of Worcestershire's 14 T20 group games when, in the absence of the injured Joe Leach, they will be skippered by current stand-in county captain Brett D'Oliveira.
Although he lost his Test place in March, Moeen could also then be on international standby when the five-match Test series with India begins at Edgbaston on 1 August.
The T20 campaign is later than usual this year, running from Wednesday 4 July (Worcestershire's first game is the following night against Lancashire at Old Trafford), through to 17 August.
The quarter-finals are the following week (23-26 August). Finals Day, again at Edgbaston, is on Saturday 15 September.
