    An 11-year-old girl has been assaulted at a park in Solihull.

    Police says the girl was knocked to the ground at Babbs Mill Park, Kingshurst, on Friday afternoon, before the man ran off.

    The victim was taken to hospital with a cut to her neck, although she has since been discharged.

    Patrols have been stepped up in the area and officers are keen to speak to any witnesses.

    The carbon dioxide crisis continues with Asda yesterday announcing it is rationing sales of fizzy drinks.

    In the West Midlands, Holden's, which has 80 customers, shut down over a week ago, while some other brewers said they were struggling to source supplies of the gas.

    Some poultry processors said they had also struggled.

    Andrew Pozzi, from Stratford-upon-Avon, regained his British title in the 110m hurdles with a time of 13.61 seconds.

    Wolverhampton's Matthew Hudson Smith won the men's 400m for the third year in a row.

    Birmingham's Elliot Giles also picked up his third 800 metres title, with all confirming places in the British team for next month's European Championships.

    Fire crews from Warwickshire and the West Midlands have joined colleagues from across the country in tackling a blaze on Lancashire moorland

    Crews continue to tackle a major moorland blaze, which started on Thursday.

    Seventeen fire engines remained at the scene on Winter Hill near Bolton overnight from Sunday into Monday.

    Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service (LFRS) said "full firefighting operations" resumed at first light on Monday with 22 engines.

    It is feared the moorland blaze may burn for another week.

    A footbridge in Shrewsbury has been closed off after concerns about cracks and rusty masonry.

    The bridge, between the Riverside and Charles Darwin Centre, remains structurally sound, Shropshire Council says.

    Engineers are carrying out a full inspection today due to some loose masonry.

    Singers Cheryl and Liam Payne have announced they are splitting up after more than two years together.

    The former Girls Aloud star, 35, and One Direction member, originally from Wolverhampton, confirmed the decision in posts on social media.

    The couple have a son, Bear, who was born in March last year.

    They said they were "sad" to make the announcement, and it had been a "tough decision to make", adding: "We still have so much love for each other as a family."

    Work is starting today on improvements to Stoke-on-Trent station.

    The project, set to last eight weeks, will see sections of pavement replaced on Glebe Street and Leek Road, as well as kerbs replaced on parts of Station Road.

    Police are continuing to search for a 16-month-old boy and his pregnant mother who are from the West Midlands.

    Arrest warrants have been issued for Eunice Kyerah, who is more than 30 weeks pregnant, and husband Richard after a High Court judge issued an appeal.

    Mr and Mrs Kyerah could be with their son Joeking, who was born in February 2017.

    Social services bosses at Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council had welfare responsibilities for Joeking and had begun family court litigation.

    The Royal Life Saving Society, based in Worcester, is urging people not to go swimming in open water to cool off in the hot weather.

    Hundreds of people have attended a vigil to remember Ryan Evans, 13, who died after he went missing at Westport Lake in Stoke-on-Trent.

    A book of condolence was opened and floral tributes, as well as balloons were laid at the scene.

    Firefighters have been battling the blaze between Thorncliffe and Shawfields near to the former Mermaid pub, since about 17:15 on Saturday.

    Operations will continue throughout the day, it said.
