  2. 'No working toilets, only bottled water' after burst pipepublished at 16:18 British Summer Time 9 July 2018

    A city centre road has been closed off to allow Severn Trent engineers to repair a burst water pipe.

    It apologised to customers affected by the burst main in Cornwall Street, Birmingham, saying the company was "working hard to get everything back to normal as quickly as possible".

    Local restaurant Opus said it had had to cancel more than 100 lunch, dinner and party reservations.

    "A kitchen cannot function without water and must remain closed until the supply is restored," a spokesman said.

    Alex Loxton, whose office backs on to the city centre street tweeted: "No working toilets. Only bottled water. Happy Monday everyone!!"

    Engineers are also still working in Wheeler Street, after "one of the biggest pipes" in the city burst on Saturday, affecting about 100 homes.

    Lichfield Road in Aston also remains partially closed after a pipe burst there, close to the turn-off for Star City.

    The Crewe-born 27-year-old was competing in her first international competition since winning silver at Rio 2016.

    "My rehab from ankle surgeries has been a long and challenging process," Page said.

    "I have been looking forward to this moment for a long time. I am just so happy it has gone well."

    Neighbours and firefighters made frantic attempts to save a pensioner who drove into flood water in Walsall, an inquest heard.

    Locals clambered on to the roof of Peter Harnwell’s camper van on the Lichfield Road and tried to smash the windscreen with a hammer.

    Mr Harnwell, 82, of Swan Lane in Evesham, Worcestershire, died after becoming trapped in flood water in the early hours of 28 May.

    Black Country Coroner Zafar Siddique commended members of the public for their efforts to try to rescue him.

    He gave the cause of death as drowning and recorded a verdict of misadventure.

    If you're a new parent who uses Aptamil baby milk formula you may have noticed some changes to three of its recipes, and in some cases reportedly making some babies ill.

    Caitlin Richards from Telford, mum to nine-month-old Isabel told me that she only noticed a subtle difference in the packaging initially - but then realised there were bigger changes when her daughter started refusing to drink it and then had a "poorly stomach".

    The powder just wasn't mixing, it was clumping and Isabel just wouldn't drink it. It smelt like sour cheese, it just stunk. She's a happy baby and doesn't cry much but then when she started having it, she had a bad belly and just wouldn't settle and was kicking her legs around.

    Ms Richards says that thankfully she's been able to find some older formula recipes in some shops in the town, though not many - and is currently considering what to do and whether to change brand.

    The manufacturer, Danone said it had carried out extensive safety checks, but added that it was "taking all feedback very seriously". Read more on this story on BBC News.

    A giant metal sculpture of a hare has been installed on a roundabout as part of a town's Britain in Bloom campaign.

    The borough council says they'll now spend the rest of the month landscaping around the sculpture with permanent, bee-friendly plants.

    There are delays of almost an hour on the M40 northbound in Warwickshire after a lorry crashed into the central barrier, blocking the motorway.

    The carriageway is closed between J12 and J13, for Bishop's Tachbrook.

    The crash caused barrier damage and a fuel spillage in the area, said Warwickshire Police.

    Streets, parks and open spaces in Worcester have been taken over by 30 giraffe sculptures.

    They're forming a six-mile art trail around the city called Worcester Stands Tall , externalas part of a project by the organisation Wild in Art. , external

    There are also 27 smaller calf sculptures around the Crowngate Shopping Centre which have been decorated by youngsters.

    When the trail comes to an end on 16 September, the giraffes are being auctioned off for the St Richard's Hospice Build 2020 Appeal which aims to build a larger hospice in the city.

    The hot weather's forced a factory to change its operating hours.

    Because of that, it says last entry for tours of the factory will be 13:00 instead of 15:00 , externaluntil Friday.

    The attraction says all other parts of World of Wedgwood are open as normal.

    Conservative backbench MP Mark Pritchard says David Davis' resignation as Brexit Secretary is "disappointing".

    The Wrekin MP told BBC Radio Shropshire that Mr Davis (pictured) should have stayed in the government but will be "replaced by someone who’ll get on with the job.”

    Mr Davis told the BBC that he was no longer the best person to deliver the PM's Brexit plan - agreed by the cabinet on Friday - as he did not "believe" in it.

    The UK is due to leave the European Union on 29 March 2019 after a referendum was held in 2016, but the two sides have yet to agree how trade will work between the UK and the EU afterwards.

    Today, the Wyre Forest MP and former trade minister Mark Garnier called for an end to uncertainty over the UK's Brexit plan, saying "businesses want to know where we're going to end up on this, one way or the other."
