    A man found guilty of stabbing a rival boxing fan has been jailed for 14 years.

    Tyrone Andrew was earlier found guilty at Birmingham Crown Court for the manslaughter of 19-year-old Reagan Asbury in Walsall.

    Passing sentence, Judge Simon Drew QC said the stabbing was a "deliberate and focused" blow aimed at an obviously unarmed victim.

    The judge added that the victim was also facing away from Andrew, who had stabbed another man moments earlier.

    They say she was in her vehicle last night in a layby on Ferry Road, Jackfield, Telford, when two men came up to the car and attacked her, leaving her needing hospital treatment.

    A 21-year-old man's been arrested and officers say they are still trying to trace two more people in connection with the assault.

    A fire next to the track between Tame Bridge Parkway and Walsall is causing disruption for trains travelling between Birmingham New Street and Rugeley Trent Valley, the National Rail website reports, external.

    West Midlands Railway say the fire is at Bescot and believed to involve a mains gas supply.

    All lines are currently blocked and trains may be cancelled or revised until it is safe for lines to reopen.

    A man's been jailed for life for the murder of a man who was "left to die in the street" after being stabbed in the neck.

    Callum Lees, 20, was found by a passer-by in Kingshurst, Solihull on 6 August last year and later died in hospital.

    James Atherley, 22, of Wells Road, Solihull, was found guilty by a unanimous verdict following a trial at Birmingham Crown Court.

    He was told by the judge that he'd serve a minimum of 26 years in prison.

    A midwife who has been reported missing had been planning a wedding for June but was recently single, police have said.

    Samantha Eastwood was last seen leaving Royal Stoke University Hospital at 07:45 BST on Friday and did not return for her night shift later that day. Police said she had appeared happy at work.

    Police say Ms Eastwood's car is still at her house and there's been no further activity on her finances since she disappeared.

    They are searching several houses in north Staffordshire and have widened their appeal for sightings to include areas where she holidayed, including Whitby.

    Yesterday, police said a 32-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of kidnap and since released under investigation while inquiries continue.

    A project to help survivors of child sexual exploitation (CSE) has opened in Shropshire today. , external

    The Holly Project is an independent drop-in service that's run by survivors of CSE, based in Wellington.

    It's been funded by Telford and Wrekin Council and run by YMCA Wellington who say it's been set up in response to the needs of survivors and their families. , external

    They add that it'll offer people a safe place to get support and advice from people who know the trauma of CSE.

    A council's being urged to ban goldfish being handed out as fairground prizes on land it owns.

    Cannock Chase councillor Claire Wilkinson pushed for the move at the latest full council meeting, describing it as a "cruel and outdated practice".

    In England, it is only an offence to give away an animal as a prize if the recipient is under 16 and not accompanied by an adult.

    The council says the proposal's now on the agenda for their next cabinet meeting on 23 August.

    Ricky Walker has been convicted at Birmingham Crown Court of the manslaughter of his six-month-old son Kayden Walker, who died after suffering "catastrophic" brain injuries at his home in 2016.

    A jury also convicted Kayden's mother, 25-year-old Laura Davies, of allowing her son's death.

    Walker, 27, from Bilston, West Midlands, was cleared of murder and child cruelty, and will be sentenced on Thursday.

    Davies was bailed for sentence on a date to be fixed.
