    Hereford FC have confirmed their Vanarama North match at Chester on Bank Holiday Monday has been postponed.

    This is due to the ongoing problems at Swansway Stadium after parts of the ground were flooded in a recent storm.

    Hot weather, Brexit, austerity and people being "just angry and upset" are all reasons being put forward for a rise in violent crime, the West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner says.

    David Jamieson said there was "no complete answer", suggesting this sort of crime had been on the increase for the past two years.

    Mr Jamieson added we are "seeing incidents that at one time would have been a minor skirmish between people, have now turned out to be quite nasty".

    And he went on to say: "People say is it the post-Brexit period, is it a period of being uncertain? Is it the affect of austerity? That a lot of people are just angry and upset? I don’t know the answer to that."

    Coventry City striker Amadou Bakayoko says the team will be ready to go, with "fresh legs", when they travel to Blackpool tonight.

    It's their second game in four days, after the 1-0 win over Plymouth on Saturday, and Bakayoko said the players had been "working hard on the training ground".

    A steam locomotive that has spent 11 years as a shopping centre exhibit is heading back to the Severn Valley Railway.

    Built in Swindon nearly 80 years ago, Hinton Manor last steamed on the heritage line between Kidderminster and Bridgnorth in 1994.

    It was rescued from a scrapyard in south Wales 45 years ago and had been based at the shopping centre which occupies a former Great Western Railway works.

    It is now going on display at the Engine House Visitor Centre at Highley, near Bridgnorth.

    Police are investigating two shootings in Northfield last night.

    A house was shot at in Cheverton Road at around 00:30 and two windows were smashed.

    Shortly before a shotgun was fired at a house on Chatham Road.

    Nobody was injured in either incident.

    Officers say they are looking into whether the two are linked.

    West Bromwich Albion captain Chris Brunt has decided to retire from international football.

    The 34-year-old midfielder made his debut for Northern Ireland in 2004 and went on to gain 65 caps and score three goals for his country.

    Firefighters say they've finally left the scene of a Moorlands fire 12 days after it broke out., external

    The fire on The Roaches was caused by a camp fire that got out of control.

    The blaze swept through about 200 acres of land, with smoke reported as far away as south Yorkshire.

    The surrounding roads and moorland will stay closed over the August Bank Holiday weekend as wildlife rangers continue to dampen down due to some peat still burning.

    Port Vale fans living overseas are donating money so local families who otherwise couldn't afford tickets can get to matches.

    The supporters, who live in Australia and USA, are working with the club to find families who are up for visits to Vale Park.

    Pat Scragg who lives in New South Wales, but born in Stoke-on-Trent, says the group of people from across the world are funding about 14 families to a season ticket.

    Thousands of Muslims have come together in Small Heath Park to mark Eid ul Adha, in what is thought to be one of the biggest gatherings of its kind in the UK.

    One of the holiest days in the Islamic calendar, the festival remembers the prophet Ibrahim's willingness to sacrifice his son.

    Several roads around Small Heath Park were closed this morning, while as many as 60,000 worshippers attended outdoor prayers, Birmingham Live reports, external.

    Muslims also gathered for prayers in many of the city's mosques.

    Police are investigating reports that a woman was forced into a car by four men in Sandwell.

    Residents in the Aston Court area of Wednesbury, external reported hearing screams at about 01:00 on Sunday.

    Officers say four men were heard shouting at the woman and she was then pushed into a white Ford Fiesta, which then drove off along with the men.

    The car was seeing turning Crankhill Lane and then headed towards the island with Hall Green Road.

  15. Four men charged over £12m drug smuggling ringpublished at 16:01 British Summer Time 21 August 2018

    Four men have been charged by police investigating a £12m drug trafficking operation between the Netherlands and the UK.

    Last week, the National Crime Agency (NCA) arrested six men and a woman in the Birmingham and Tipton areas and two other men in Rotterham in connection with the import of heroin and cocaine into the UK.

    A spokeswoman for the NCA say four men have been charged with numerous counts of conspiracy to import Class-A drugs and are due to appear in court next month.

    One woman and five other men have been released on bail pending further enquiries.

    Plans to close a link road in Worcester tonight and tomorrow night have been put on hold after the much of the work was completed last night, the county council says.

    The highways department said Western Power Distribution had made "excellent overnight progress" on Monday to remove safety netting following the move of overhead cables on to a new pylon., external

    It means the Southern Link Road between the Powick and Ketch roundabouts will remain open.
