    Specialist cleaners have been called in to help advise council workers on how to remove graffiti from a statue.

    Coventry City Council leader George Duggins said he's "angry" and "disappointed" that the "respected symbol of our city", Lady Godiva, has been defaced.

    Council crews worked over the weekend to clean the graffiti which is "proving very difficult to remove", he said.

    The statue, in Broadgate, was put up in 1949. Lady Godiva, the wife of Leofric, Earl of Mercia, reportedly rode naked around the city in a bid to get her husband to reduce taxes in the 11th Century.

    More graffiti was discovered on the statue on Tuesday morning.

    “We are looking at CCTV footage and will be passing this to the police.”

    In Division Two, Warwickshire's push for promotion will continue after they dismissed their hosts, Leicestershire, for 100 at Grace Road.

    The Bears then overtook their score to reach 190-3 by the close, thanks to vice-captain Dom Sibley hitting 106.

    The boss of Mondelez International in Europe told the Times that he hopes a deal with the European Union can be reached in time for next year's Brexit deadline.

    If not British shoppers could face higher prices and fewer products, Hubert Weber told the newspaper.

    A fault with the signalling system , externalbetween Caersws and Machynlleth is causing disruption to journeys between Shrewsbury and Dovey Junction, the National Rail website reports.

    Services may be cancelled, delayed by up to 40 minutes or terminate / start at Machynlleth.

    Disruption will continue until 12:00.

    The public consultation into the future of Shropshire's two main hospitals ends today.

    Future Fit was launched in 2013 with the intention of overhauling hospital services at the Royal Shrewsbury and Princess Royal in Telford.

    Last year, health bosses agreed a preferred option that would see emergency care and women and children's services be located in Shrewsbury.

    Telford's Princess Royal site, meanwhile, would become the centre for planned care, like elective surgery, orthopaedics and specialist bariatric and breast services, yet its emergency department downgraded to an urgent care centre.

    Thousands of people have now given feedback on the plans, with hundreds attending public exhibition events.

    I’ve just been through Wolverhampton railway station on my way into Birmingham New Street.

    Some traffic was moving, but several emergency vehicles could be seen parked on streets near the centre of the city.

    I’m told traffic on and near the ring road was queuing from 07:30 when routes would normally be fairly clear.

    A police incident caused road closures and disruption. The incident is now over, but delays may remain for a while.

    The police incident in Wolverhampton is over and the ring road and all routes have now reopened, police says.

    The bus station is also now open.

    Drivers are being warned it's likely to be some time until traffic returns to normal.

    Three people, suspected of being members of banned far-right terrorist group National Action, are due in court today charged with terrorism offences.

    Garry Jack, 22, and Daniel Ward, 28, both from Birmingham, and a 17-year-old boy from Nottingham, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, were charged with being part of the group.

    They are due to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court today.

    Major congestion on roads around Wolverhampton is being reported after part of the ring road was closed for a police incident.

    There's queuing at all junctions as well as inbound approach routes from Stafford Road, back to Dunstall Hill; Cannock Road, back through Park village and Wednesdfield Road, through Heath Town.

    Rail passengers having trouble reaching the station can use tickets on the Metro between Wolverhampton and Grand Central.

    And with the bus station closed, passengers are being advised to use the nearest stops.

    A man is continuing to be questioned after being arrested on suspicion of murder by detectives investigating the death of the grandson of The Specials singer Neville Staple.

    Fidel Glasgow, 21, died after being stabbed outside Club M in Coventry on 1 September. He was the son of Mr Staple's daughter, Melanie.

    A 23-year-old Coventry man was arrested earlier and is being questioned. Police are appealing for witnesses.

    One man has appeared in court in connection with the incident.

    Funding worth £106m for research and development in green vehicles and low-carbon technology is to be announced by the Prime Minister.

    Theresa May will set out plans today to boost the zero-emission vehicle sector when she addresses a summit in Birmingham.

    Mrs May is expected to tell the UK's first-ever Zero Emission Vehicle Summit that the government has an "ambitious mission" to ensure Britain is a leader in the green technology field.

    The government will also unveil a new international initiative, dubbed the "Birmingham deceleration", aimed at paving the way for the worldwide deployment of green vehicles and introduction of smart, zero-emission infrastructure.

    A busy road will be shut for up to four months to replace a crumbling Victorian iron bridge., external

    Storesbrook Bridge, which was built in 1901 and crosses the River Leadon between Ledbury and Bosbury, is used by more than 3,000 vehicles every day, Herefordshire Council says.

    Bu it's "reached the end of its working life" and will be replaced with a new steel deck, which will be built off site and then lowered into place.

    The council says safety barriers will also be installed on the bend next to it, to reduce the risk of vehicles going into the river.

    Work will start on 1 November and last around 16 weeks.

    Part of the Wolverhampton ring road, close to the city's railway station, has been closed due to a police incident.

    It's closed between Wednesfield Road and the A454 Middle Cross.

    Railway Drive is also closed, with drivers being advised to avoid the area around the railway station.

    Wolves favourite Steve Bull will be officially awarded the Freedom of Wolverhampton later.

    Bull spent 13 years with the city's football club and is their record scorer with more than 300 goals.

    He also played 13 times for England.

    He'll be presented with the freedom scroll at the Civic Centre this evening.
